great plugin. Thx for the implementation.

Some users of Electrum use it via it's API.Could you also implement a method, that can be used via JSON-RPC / command line / Python interpreter?

Good question.
I'm knee-deep in working on the 0.2.0 update for joinmarket, so I can't make any progress on this (the plugin) right now. I hope to do some fairly serious re-factoring once that's finished (something similar to what you see as joinmarket_core described here) and then we could start making a more sensible API to the joinmarket code itself (kind of orthogonal to your question, but .. maybe not).

I should pursue this further, but there's a lot of work to do to get the code from the current "it just about lets me do a coinjoin" to "it works in most sane use cases".

Basically the new design involves running a joinmarketd daemon in the background and instantiating a Taker class from jmclient (see readme for the packages to install), then handling callbacks (most importantly the callback allowing the user to decide whether or not to accept the fee; with a little extra code we can allow this interruption to be removed, see answeryes). Pretty much everything else is handled by the backend. I doubt it'd be amazingly hard to do this via the API, I haven't even looked into it I'm afraid.
