Description

The failing E2E Tests job was blocked by PostgreSQL service container startup, not by E2E assertions. The workflow now runs E2E in a dedicated job so mock-based E2E coverage is no longer coupled to Docker Hub pulls for postgres:18-alpine.

  • Root cause

    • E2E Tests ran inside a matrix job that always provisions a Postgres service.
    • Transient Docker Hub pull timeouts failed the job before go test -tags=e2e executed.
  • Workflow change

    • Removed E2E Tests from the go-tests matrix (which keeps Postgres service for DB-dependent suites).
    • Added standalone e2e-tests job with the same test command and Go setup, but no service containers.
  • Resulting CI shape

    • go-tests matrix: Unit / Integration / Contract (Postgres-backed).
    • e2e-tests: E2E only (mock/in-process, no Postgres dependency).
# New dedicated E2E job (no services)
e2e-tests:
  name: E2E Tests
  runs-on: ubuntu-latest
  steps:
    - uses: actions/checkout@v7
    - uses: actions/setup-go@v7
      with:
        go-version: ${{ env.GO_VERSION }}
        cache: true
    - run: go test -v -tags=e2e -timeout=5m ./tests/e2e/...

AI Generated (optional)

Root-cause analysis was based on GitHub Actions job logs for run 30171320448, job 89712849449, showing repeated Docker pull failures for postgres:18-alpine during service initialization.
