Feature request: recover interrupted Codex conversations after account switching #205

Open

Description

@lifan-builds

When Codex stops several conversations because the active account has exhausted its quota, switching accounts and reopening Codex still leaves each conversation waiting for manual continuation.

The displayed error can be:

You've hit your usage limit. Review your workspace's usage settings to continue.

To reproduce, run multiple conversations until this error appears, then close Codex, switch accounts, and reopen through Switcher. The stopped conversations still need individual continuation.

Add an opt-in recovery setting in Settings and the close-and-switch dialog. Match recorded usage-limit failures, including structured usage_limit_exceeded, and skip already continued, completed, cancelled, unrelated, or internal-agent sessions. Open queued chats and verify that the marked continuation actually starts; queue acceptance alone should not count as success. Keep progress and per-conversation results visible, with duplicate suppression and actionable diagnostics for uncertain delivery.

Implementation: #206. This issue covers conversation recovery only; automatic quota switching (#207 / #209) and invalid-account re-login (#208 / #210) have separate upstream issue/PR pairs.

On macOS, the switch also interrupts other running chats before they record a quota error. Include unfinished chats whose rollout files are open in the Codex process tree before closing, then recheck log offsets before delivery. Exclude pending input/approval and explicitly aborted turns. Other platforms retain quota-error recovery.
