You must keep them in the original maps. as soon as your move the maps out of the original location, the script doesn't recognize them anymore. I already reported this as a feature request to make the config files easier to access: #226
You can symlink the folder where your downloaded gguf shards are to the location where Strata looks for them, ie ..\Strata-data\models\IQ3_S. Assuming the model you have downloaded previously is the one Strata uses, of course (https://huggingface.co/ISTA-DASLab/Qwen3.8-Flash-Next-GSQ-RCO-GGUF).
You don't need to download the model again: point setup at the folder that already has both GGUF files, START-HERE.bat --setup --gguf-dir <folder> (Linux: ./setup.sh --gguf-dir <folder>). Symlinks work too. The llama.cpp download isn't needed for that. Settings are in ~/.config/strata/settings.json (Linux) or %APPDATA%\Strata\settings.json, data in Strata-data or --data-dir. Closing as answered; reopen if --gguf-dir doesn't pick your files up.

Could you help me identify the paths it uses on Linux? I'll try placing the copies I already have there. Thanks for your help.

Point --models-dir to the location of your model file. This should work. You will need to make sure that your model dir is set up how strata expects.
