Support for Uni-App and WeChat Mini Programs #2223
I would like to request official support for Uni-App and WeChat Mini Programs.
Current situation
Currently, PostHog SDKs do not support Uni-App or WeChat Mini Programs.
Developers working with these ecosystems cannot easily integrate PostHog for analytics and user behavior tracking.
We can only try using the HTTP API, but this misses important features such as automatic event capture, session tracking, and visual heatmaps.
Why this matters
Uni-App is widely used in China and other regions to build cross-platform apps (including WeChat Mini Programs, H5, iOS, Android).
WeChat Mini Programs have a huge developer and user base, especially in the Chinese market. Adding support would open up PostHog to a significant number of new developers and companies.
Feature request
Provide an official PostHog SDK for Uni-App.
Provide an official PostHog SDK for WeChat Mini Programs.
At least support: event capture, user identification, super properties, and session tracking.
Alternatives
Right now, the only workaround is using the HTTP API, but this is not practical because:
No automatic capture.
No visual heatmap support.
Higher integration cost for developers.
Additional context
Adding support for these platforms would make PostHog more competitive in markets where WeChat Mini Programs and Uni-App are widely used.
Both are attached as sub-issues of this umbrella and cross-reference each other where relevant. Closing this umbrella as superseded; implementation remains tracked in the two open issues above.
