Supporting a standard material implementation.
Describe the solution you'd like
OpenPBR is becoming more widely adopted. It would be good to have materials translate seamlessly between DCCs. Blender has already implemented OpenPBR.
The MaterialX repo does have a mostly complete rasterized implementation of OpenPBR materials, but I don't think it provides any behavior for refraction, thin walls, etc. Basically optics stuff it mostly ignores.
OpenPBR repo does provide the behavior/expectation for all the material features, but not the implementation. So raytracing, rasterization, etc is up to the user.
