Missing files

First check that the music is visible and readable in Nextcloud Files. Audio Player indexes Nextcloud's file cache, so a newly connected storage may need a Nextcloud file scan before an Audio Player scan.

An administrator can run this from the Nextcloud directory, using the server's web-server user:

sudo -u www-data php occ files:scan username
sudo -u www-data php occ audioplayer:scan username

Check the configured music folder and exclusions if tracks are still missing.

Slow SMB scans

For slow scans or pipe / open-file errors on SMB storage, use the PHP smbclient extension (php-smbclient / libsmbclient-php) on the Nextcloud server.
