Web Server - open projects from subfolders

Question

I'm on version 1.4.0.
I have a structured workspace with a project tree - there are nested project folders. Currently when I want to open a new project in the web interface, I see that only root folders are treated as project folders - there is no possibility to open subfolders as a separate project. Is it a feature or a oversight? Is it possible to open subfolders as a project? Thanks in advance for explanations.
