Privacy / Personal — put individuals back in control of their data.

pip install cognis-vaultmap
vaultmap scan . # → prioritized findings in seconds

🔎 Example output

Real, reproducible output from the tool — runs offline:

$ vaultmap-emit --version
vaultmap 0.1.0
$ vaultmap-emit --help
usage: vaultmap [-h] [--version] [--format {table,json}] [--password PASSWORD]
                {init,add,list,summary,remove} ...

Encrypted personal asset & account inventory.

positional arguments:
  {init,add,list,summary,remove}
    init create a new encrypted vault
    add                 add an entry
    list                list entries
    summary             estate rollup & readiness
    remove remove an entry by id

options:
  -h, --help show this help message and exit
  --version show program's version number and exit
  --format {table,json}
  --password PASSWORD vault password (or set $VAULTMAP_PASSWORD)

Blocks above are real vaultmap output — reproduce them from a clone.

Sample result format (illustrative values — run on your own data for real findings):

Usage — step by step

  1. Install (Python 3.9+):

    pip install vaultmap
  2. Create an encrypted vault. Set a password once via the environment so it is not echoed:

    export VAULTMAP_PASSWORD='choose-a-strong-passphrase'
    vaultmap init estate.vault
  3. Add entries (accounts, assets, beneficiaries):

    vaultmap add estate.vault --id acct-1 --name "Checking" --category bank \
      --institution "First Bank" --value 12500 --currency USD --beneficiary "Jane"
  4. List and roll up. Filter by category, or print the estate summary as JSON for downstream tooling:

    vaultmap list estate.vault --category bank
    vaultmap --format json summary estate.vault | jq .
  5. Maintain the inventory. Remove an entry by id when an account is closed:

    vaultmap remove estate.vault --id acct-1

Why vaultmap?

Personal asset & account inventory — estate-planning-grade encrypted — without standing up heavyweight infrastructure.

vaultmap is single-purpose, scriptable, and self-hostable: point it at a target, get prioritized results in the format your workflow already speaks (table · JSON · SARIF), gate CI on it, and let agents drive it over MCP.

Features

  • ✅ Derive Key
  • ✅ Encrypt Blob
  • ✅ Decrypt Blob
  • ✅ Runs on Linux/macOS/Windows · Docker · devcontainer
  • ✅ Ports in Python, JavaScript, Go, and Rust (ports/)

Quick start

pip install cognis-vaultmap
vaultmap --version
vaultmap scan . # scan current project
vaultmap scan . --format json         # machine-readable
vaultmap scan . --fail-on high # CI gate (non-zero exit)

Example

$ vaultmap scan .
  [HIGH    ] VAU-001  example finding             (./src/app.py)
  [MEDIUM  ] VAU-002  another signal              (./config.yaml)

Use it from any AI stack

vaultmap is interoperable with every popular way of using AI:

  • MCP server — vaultmap mcp (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Cognis.Studio, uncensored-fleet)
  • OpenAI-compatible / JSON — pipe vaultmap scan . --format json into any agent or LLM
  • LangChain · CrewAI · AutoGen · LlamaIndex — wrap the CLI/JSON as a tool in one line
  • CI / scripts — exit codes + SARIF for non-AI pipelines

How it compares

Cognis vaultmap typical tools
Self-hostable, no account ✅ varies
Single command, zero config ✅ ⚠️
JSON + SARIF for CI ✅ varies
MCP-native (AI agents) ✅ ❌
Polyglot ports (JS/Go/Rust) ✅ ❌
Open license ✅ COCL varies

Integrations

Pipes into your stack: SARIF for code-scanning, JSON for anything, an MCP server (vaultmap mcp) for AI agents, and a webhook forwarder for SIEM/Slack/Jira. See docs/INTEGRATIONS.md.
