request: please add an option to be able to select a more specific update interval. #20
The Work Manager is more of a "best effort" task queue that balances battery life and task processing. When the app is in what is called "Doze" (for various reasons like inactivity, screen off, etc) tasks process less frequently and may miss an entire window for small windows. There is quite a bit involved here.
That being said, I can add a setting, that will allow you to disable battery optimization for the app, which will bypass this restriction and ensure the task gets executed very closely to when it is set to run.
This is a sample of mine running every 8 hours.
Now to actually answer your question. When you change the interval, it schedules a new task that starts with a delay of how long the task is for. So if you set every 1 Hour, when you save that setting, 1 hour after that time, it "should" run again.
If you want, as a quick fix, I can add the option to disable the battery optimization, which should make it execute very closely to the set schedule (as noted above). I have this code in other apps.
For a longer fix, I can look into what is require to schedule tasks at specific times. I do believe this requires an additional app permissions.
I use hyperOS, there are features like the picture above. Is that the same as what you mean?
just to be clear, what i want is every 7 AM (for example) the app would reload the picture from given url (because from the evening until 6.30 AM my data connection is turned off and would be on again at 7 AM. so i want specific time just like 7 AM every day).
However, for now, i will use the available options.
