Most sessions end up with error: Response stopped due to malformed function call while gemini-cli is trying to edit some files. This error usually appears after another error: Failed to edit, 0 occurrences found for old_string is being reported for some times.
This leads to the third error: A potential loop was detected. This can happen due to repetitive tool calls or other model behavior. The request has been halted. which finally renders ALL FILE EDIT OPERATIONS IMPOSSIBLE.
What did you expect to happen?
gemini-cli properly using/calling tools, properly editing files, not stuck in a loop, not being halted due to misbehavior
