feature: allow manual registration of fakenodes #374

Because of the convenience features associated with fakenode testing, the registration process is bypassed. Most often, this is a welcome shortcut. But there are times when we want the registration process to be legible in testing.

It would be useful to add flags to kit to support manual runthru of registration, as opposed to bypassing it. Bypassing it is still a sensible default, but engaging it should be an option.
