test(codex): bound Windows shell shim spawns inside the spawn budget - #6862
Conversation
A loaded windows-latest runner starts pwsh.exe past the 15s internal deadline, so the caller-token restore sees a null status. The shell is the assertion, so the wait uses the shared spawn budget minus that deadline on win32, including the aged-lock ready file. Co-authored-by: JUN <jun@lidgeai.com>

📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe Codex shim integration tests now use a platform-dependent timeout for selected shell spawns and aged-lock waits. The cold-spawn warmup disposition list no longer includes the Codex shim test. ChangesShell-spawn test timeouts

Share the timeout across both PowerShell spawns
On a contended Windows runner, these two sequential spawnSync calls may each complete within the new 30-second limit while taking more than the surrounding 45-second SPAWN_BUDGET_MS in aggregate—for example, two 24-second launches. Bun then reports a test timeout even though neither child exceeded its bound, so this change can replace the original flake with another one. Calculate the second timeout from the test's remaining shared deadline, split the two assertions into separate tests, or otherwise ensure their cumulative allowance fits the outer budget.

Keep the shim test visible to cold-spawn coverage
This alias is still derived from INTERNAL_DEADLINE_MS and is passed to child-process timeout options, but DEADLINE_AS_SPAWN_TIMEOUT only recognizes that token within 120 characters after timeout:. Consequently the alias makes this file disappear from the scan and permits its disposition to be removed, even though the aged-lock children dynamically import src/codex/shim and therefore exercise the repository-module cold-start class that the guard is intended to classify. Retain the disposition or extend the guard to resolve this named timeout instead of allowing the alias to bypass it.

Use one deadline for both aged-lock waits.
The ready-file poll and the sequential spawnSync each allow 30 seconds. Because they run sequentially, they can consume 60 seconds, while the enclosing test timeout is 45 seconds. Use the remaining time from the first deadline for the second child.

Summary
cmd.exe/pwsh.exeshim cases and the aged-lock ready-file wait were bounded byINTERNAL_DEADLINE_MS(15s). On a loaded windows-latest runner a pwsh caller-token restore returned statusnullat 17.2s, and the aged-lock holder has taken 8–19s to write its ready file.SPAWN_BUDGET_MS - INTERNAL_DEADLINE_MSon win32 (30s) and stay atINTERNAL_DEADLINE_MSelsewhere. The second aged-lock child, which had no timeout, uses the same bound. The surrounding test budget staysSPAWN_BUDGET_MS.INTERNAL_DEADLINE_MS. The cold cost is still shell startup, so there is no module-graph warm-up.Verification
