v0.11.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 27 Oct 12:04
2c1259f

100 commits since 0.10.1.

Modules

  • A Speech plugin on the preset site: Speak says or sings the words typed into it in a voice made from filters, with ~ for a rest between sung notes, and Mouth draws lips that move with it and the words as they are said, with a Daisy Bell preset that sings.
  • Raymarch, in the Picture plugin: a lattice, a tunnel or a gyroid in 3D for the camera to fly through, drawn by marching a ray from every pixel, with Flythrough, a techno track flying through a lattice that pulses with the kick.

Presets

  • Every preset is tagged from ten topics, so the gallery's topic row is short: basics, song, playable, drums, melody, ambient, synthesis, effects, scope and patterns; a preset's card shows the description and tags written in its file, and a plugin registers one with PresetText.Preset in place of PresetText.Embedded.

Editor

  • Live patching: Shift+F11, the transport row's Live button, or Tab over a full-screen picture puts the patch over the picture to edit while it plays, as modules that fade while nobody touches them or as text with F2, outlined to stand out against a picture of any color, with no keyboard needed and its look set in Settings → Picture.
  • An unwired input's value sits in a well to drag, pick, nudge, reset or type, with a card over the module reading it out; Alt+L links it to a panel knob; on a touch screen a tap gives buttons to step it and a held finger slides it; a shut box's inputs work the same.
  • macOS menu bar: Flyback's own app menu and File, Edit, View, Play, Window and Help menus, with Measure moved to Ctrl+Shift+M (⇧⌘M); on Windows and Linux, Settings → Canvas → Show a menu bar puts the same menus along the top of the window.
  • Settings → Picture → Smoothing smooths the picture's jagged edges on every renderer, on by default; render smooths at four samples a pixel, and --smooth fast or --smooth off overrides it for one run.
  • The desktop editor's first start asks whether to share anonymous usage counts.
  • An Expression's inputs that its formula doesn't read are drawn faint.
  • On a phone the web editor's transport and status bars stay on screen, and added to the home screen it opens full screen.

Command line

  • ask, measure and shot list the shipped presets with --presets, as the other commands that take --preset do.

Performance

  • The sound on an iPhone or iPad plays about 40% faster.
  • On a Mac, an iPhone or an iPad the picture draws through Metal, and a large patch no longer holds the window while its shader builds; Settings → Picture's Renderer box, or the viewer's --driver for one run, picks Metal or OpenGL on a Mac and OpenGL or Direct3D on Windows.

Fixes

  • Vigil's and No Sense Dub's descriptions are no longer cut off.
  • The Settings window scrolls a long tab with one scroll bar instead of two.

v0.10.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 21 Oct 13:27
3b00c76

16 commits since 0.10.0.

Presets

  • Every shipped preset, the engine's own included, is written in the text language, its modules named for what they do.

Fixes

  • On macOS the picture is drawn by the graphics card again, not the processor.

v0.10.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 19 Oct 22:50
46148fc

102 commits since 0.9.0.

Modules

  • A Plot in the Picture plugin draws a pitch function as a glowing curve across beats with a dot at now, and Plots chain through under for a song made of functions.
  • A Line In hears the microphone on Windows and macOS.

Presets

  • A plugin can ship a preset written in the text language with PresetText.Embedded, and Mycelium now is one.

Assistant

  • The assistant changes a patch by editing its text with edit_patch, in place of a tool per knob, wire and module; a patch written as text keeps its comments and defs through the assistant's edits.
  • Your own Claude Code or Codex can build patches: flyback-cli tool runs the assistant's tools one call at a time, with undo, and tool --skill prints the skill that teaches it; flyback-cli mcp --editor edits the patch open in the editor once Settings → Assistant lets it, and the column shows each call.
  • The Claude Code assistant is gone: Anthropic does not allow another program to use a Claude plan. Use the OpenAI-compatible assistant with an Anthropic API key.

Editor

  • Ctrl+Shift+D, or the die on a module's panel, rolls its unpatched knobs somewhere new; Ctrl+Z steps back through the rolls.
  • The text language has loops: for (pitch, level) in [(A2, 0.5), (E3, 0.3)] { ... } stamps out its body per item, with lists, ...list and sum(list).
  • A panel knob can be played as a switch or a button, on screen and from a controller's button or pad: panel drop = 0, switch.
  • Seven more tutorials: seeing a sound, drawing with shapes, playing from the keyboard, music that writes itself, echo and space, turning any music into a picture, and the patch as text.
  • The About box and the website credit Potato Smasher, the name Flyback is published under.
  • In the web editor, a sound, picture or MIDI file chosen for a module travels in the patch, and View it plays it.

Command line

  • A still from flyback-cli render --at has a feedback loop's history: a Trails has its trails.
  • flyback-cli modules <module> --json gives the knee of a knob that turns in decades.

Installing

  • Each release carries the Android editor as a signed arm64 APK.
  • Each release carries an MSIX for the Microsoft Store, where Flyback is listed as Flyback Modular; the Store updates a copy installed from it.

Fixes

  • The stutters of starting up no longer lower the sound's oversampling: it gets five seconds after Play first.
  • Codex calling a tool with a key written twice is asked to send the call again, rather than the turn failing.

v0.9.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 14 Oct 22:59
f0f1874

65 commits since 0.8.0.

Modules

  • Feedback's age output is the seconds since the frame it reads.
  • A Window is 1 between two points and 0 outside, hard or soft edged, and a Dice throws the same random for a whole number every time it comes round; a formula calls them as window() and dice().

Presets

  • A Drawings plugin on the preset site plays an SVG, an OBJ model or a PNG's outlines as sound that draws it on a Beam, with Rotate 3D, Translate 3D, Scale 3D and Perspective to turn and project a model, and a Wireframe preset that spins a cube.
  • A Wandering tune preset plays a melody nobody wrote and draws it as a scrolling score.
  • A Visualizer preset draws whatever the Line In hears as a turning kaleidoscope the kick flashes.

Assistant

  • With a decision model chosen under Settings → Decisions, a word a module is known by finds it in the module list (a Slew by portamento), a phrase that names no module finds the ones it describes, a message that surely asks a question is answered rather than built from, and the status line's complaints come likeliest first; flyback-cli modules --find and check --triage do the same.
  • Asked to listen, an assistant with no model able to hear, such as Claude Code or Codex, says it cannot hear.
  • The assistant's replies draw their bold, lists, headings and code rather than showing the Markdown as typed.
  • The assistant's column names the model it is set to before anything has answered.
  • Claude Code's model box offers Fable.

Editor

  • Usage statistics are off until switched on under Settings → Privacy, including for anyone who had them on before.
  • Tutorials in the editor: Tutorials, at the left of the status bar, opens a column that walks you through building a patch, from a first picture, a first sound or a beat you can see, ticking off each step as your patch does what it asks; flyback-cli tutorial checks a patch against one.
  • On Windows, Flyback plays through an ASIO driver and on Linux through a running JACK server; where more than one way of playing sound is installed, the Sound tab asks which, and the status bar, the full-screen stats line, flyback-viewer --report and a page's state name it.
  • A MIDI In the computer keyboard plays can be played from a row of keys along the foot of the window: an octave of a piano or the patch's scale, moved by octaves, up by itself under a finger and from the toolbar's keys button otherwise.
  • The editor works under a finger: the inspector scrolls instead of moving a control, pins its header on a short screen and has Bypass, Duplicate, Delete and More buttons; a held button reads its tip; a wobbling tap still switches an Arrangement's cell; the code view waits for a tap before the keyboard; and every splitter takes a fingertip either side of its gap.
  • In a page, a phone's keyboard shrinks the editor rather than covering the field being typed into, and an iPhone no longer zooms in on it.
  • Over the editor's full-screen picture, Space pauses and F11 gives the window back, as in the viewer.
  • A saved patch holds only what was set, not what Flyback works out from it.
  • A dialog too tall for its window scrolls only its contents, keeping Save, Cancel and its other buttons in view.
  • The unsaved-work and assistant-working questions carry a glyph: a disk, or the assistant's star.
  • On Android, the editor has the Flyback mark as its home-screen icon and opens on it.
  • A def call in the text is drawn on the canvas as a shut group of the modules it made, named after the let that binds it or else the def.
  • The plugin contract no longer offers what only Flyback itself calls, such as NodeCatalog.Install and PatchWorkbench.Edits.

Viewer

  • A Line In in flyback-viewer hears the sound input, as it does in the editor.

Command line

  • flyback-cli decide asks a decision model typed questions about some text and answers each with a probability; --set, --for and --save set the model up, as Settings → Decisions does, and it, modules --find and check --triage take --settings.
  • flyback-cli render --size takes 720p, 1080p or square beside WIDTHxHEIGHT.
  • flyback-cli render of a clip whose picture listens to the sound plays that sound even where none of it reaches the speakers.
  • install.sh --no-links writes only the copy, leaving the command links, menu entry, shortcut and PATH as they were.

Fixes

  • A patch opened on a busy Windows machine starts as soon as it is compiled, instead of standing silent for up to ten seconds.
  • Opening a patch that plays a long sound file, saving a preset or a bundle, installing a plugin, saving the file settings on Linux and typing in the assistant's settings no longer hold up the window.
  • A Trails' tail is as long in a 30 fps export as in a 60 fps preview.
  • Picking a model from the list no longer crashes the editor when the saved model is not on it, and a model name pasted with a space around it is read without the space.
  • The Claude Code and Codex assistants no longer flash a console window on Windows.
  • What the canvas says of an edit, a group declined or modules ungrouped, reaches the status bar.
  • The editor starts with an assistant chosen and a prose budget too small to describe every module, instead of failing to open.
  • A tall window gives the picture only the height its shape fills.
  • A patch stays framed when the window or the screen changes size before anything has moved the view.
  • A MIDI file with thousands of tempo changes opens at once instead of freezing the editor.
  • A Beam fed a signal too large for a number draws instead of failing every frame, and draws on its gallery tile while the preset is tried.
  • On Android, the web editor's sound stops other playback, as the web viewer's does.
  • On Linux, forgetting a key that was never kept no longer reports an error.
  • A patch file with no knob values for a module opens with the module's defaults instead of crashing.
  • An OpenAI-compatible or Gemini endpoint that answers with an error page says so, and probing a chat-completions endpoint says when a rate limit left a model's senses unsure.
  • A number Flyback cannot use is refused where it is typed, in a flag such as --seconds, --fps, --at or --context, or on a knob, a knob's range or a setting in the code view, instead of overflowing, crashing, running for ever or stopping the patch from saving.
  • A patch nested deeper than Flyback follows, an Expression's formula or a chain of more than 128 modules, says so instead of freezing or closing the editor.
  • flyback-cli render writes a sound longer than an hour and a half through ffmpeg instead of failing.
  • A damaged thumbnail in the gallery's cache is drawn again instead of running out of memory.
  • A settings.json or allowed-plugins.json with a key written twice reads as damaged: the next save replaces the one, and the other allows nothing instead of stopping Flyback from starting.
  • The Echo's help no longer says its right tap lands on the beat after the left.

v0.8.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 07 Oct 16:08

154 commits since 0.7.1.

Modules

  • A Beam module draws two signals against each other as an X-Y oscilloscope does, so oscilloscope music wired left to x and right to y shows as it was made to be seen.
  • A MIDI File module plays a .mid file on the patch's clock, a voice and a channel of it at a time, so it sounds the same in an export as on the speakers.
  • A Line In module plays what the microphone hears, on Linux and in the web editor and viewer.
  • A MIDI In plays chords down one chain: give it several voices and every module its wires reach plays once per voice.

Presets

  • A Lissajous preset: two sines a fifth apart, one to each speaker, drawn against each other on a Beam.
  • The preset gallery narrows by heading, by sound or picture and by topic, and a click shows a card larger.
  • With an assistant set up, the preset gallery has a card to type an idea in: Start opens an empty patch, has the assistant write the idea out as a detailed brief and sends it.
  • The preset gallery's pictures are sharper, without the smudge around their edges.
  • A preset opened from the gallery stops counting as the open preset once the patch is edited.

Assistant

  • The assistant can run on the Claude Code or the Codex you are signed in to, with no API key.
  • The assistant's column is redrawn as a conversation, with Expand beside Send to write a short message out in full, and it ends at a context limit in tokens, set under Settings → Assistant.
  • The assistant reads a sound's spectrum, looks, listens and measures from any point on the timeline, and can set how long a patch plays for.
  • The Claude Code assistant hits the prompt cache between requests.

Editor

  • Settings → Canvas → Drag empty canvas to pan moves the view with the left button, for a mouse with no middle button; the web editor has it too.
  • The settings window is wide enough that no option is cut short.
  • Fingers on the canvas no longer lose a wire to the socket beside the one meant, or edit the patch when two land together to pan.
  • A note held while the patch is edited no longer pops: dragging a slider mid-chord keeps it sounding.
  • On Linux, Flyback shows its icon in the applications menu after install.sh, and in the entry it writes when it opens your files.

Viewer

  • The web viewer hides the Loop button for a patch with no length.
  • flyback-viewer --trace <file> and flyback --trace <file> write every stall over 100 ms into the file, with the step it was in.
  • flyback-viewer --report prints, when the run ends, the frames a second it held, the slowest frame, what the sound cost, and what drew the picture.

Command line

  • flyback-cli render --from <seconds> starts a clip or a sound at that second, the patch played up to it unrecorded.
  • flyback-cli render of a still plays the sound up to it, and --input <file> gives a render a sound file for a Line In to hear.
  • flyback-cli render --mute <group> switches a named group off for the run, and --solo <group> plays it alone with what feeds it and carries it to the Output.
  • flyback-cli info --by-group lists the picture and sound ops each group adds, with --json for a script.
  • flyback-cli shot --assistant draws the assistant's column open, at the end of the conversation the patch carries.
  • flyback-cli ask --expand prints a short message written out in full, as Expand does in the editor, and builds and saves nothing.
  • flyback-cli ask refuses a flag it does not have rather than sending it to the assistant as the message.

Site

  • The website and the preset site are at flybackmodular.app. Editors up to 0.7.1 can no longer reach shared presets, plugins or letters until they update.
  • The preset site's plugin shelf lists a plugin once, at its newest published version, with the older versions linked from its page.
  • install.sh makes the macOS app startable: it clears the download quarantine and signs the bundle for this Mac.

v0.7.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Oct 11:52

28 commits since 0.7.0.

Editor

  • The web viewer shows who made a patch under its title, and an author row with their initial and the patch's tags above its description.
  • The status bar and the full-screen stats line no longer count picture and sound ops.
  • The web viewer no longer says the sound's oversampling or how many times real time it renders at, and the notices that its sound keeps falling behind, is too slow to keep up or is turned on anyway go to the browser's console, not the page.
  • A module or shut box is lifted off the canvas while it is carried: it shifts a little up and left, casts a soft shadow, and passes over everything else.
  • A wire running back past a shut box goes round the box, not round the modules inside it.
  • In the editor and the viewer, on the desktop and in a browser, a click or tap on the picture plays and pauses.
  • On a phone, a patch's sound in the web editor and viewer stops other music and is not muted by the ringer switch (Safari; other browsers play as before).
  • On Android, the web viewer's sound plays through an audio element, so other playback stops.
  • With nothing selected, the inspector lists the canvas's gestures in folding groups, each row with its keys drawn as caps.
  • With nothing selected, the inspector is headed with the patch's name. Its tags are chips with a cross to take one off, and a dashed one that opens a box for one more.
  • Who made the patch is a card with an initial, a pencil and a cross, and a button to say who when nobody is credited.
  • A click on the patch's description opens a box with Save and Cancel, the text staying where it was.
  • A paused picture redraws at the new size when the editor goes full screen or comes back.

Plugins

  • Every public member of the plugin contract has its description in the .xml files that ship beside Flyback.Core.dll and Flyback.Plugins.dll.

v0.7.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Oct 15:56

112 commits since 0.6.0.

Assistant

  • flyback-cli ask talks to the assistant from a terminal or a script, as the editor's column does, and writes the answer back into the patch file with the conversation, so the next ask or the editor carries it on.
  • The assistant's listen reports the clip's integrated loudness in LUFS and its true peak, so it can hit a loudness it is asked for.
  • A rate limit that resets within a minute is waited out rather than ending the turn, and the transcript says how long it is waiting.
  • A pipe into a module whose sockets are all given says to write _ for the one it fills.
  • The assistant's measure says what any output carries, as numbers, wired or not, so it can check a knob or an LFO without a picture or a clip.
  • flyback-cli ask ends each turn with what it cost: requests, tokens in, cached and out, and time spent waiting out a rate limit.

Command line

  • flyback-cli check says which plugins it ran with, in --json too.
  • flyback-cli measure runs a patch offline for a few seconds and says what every output carried, wired or not, to the speakers and to the screen: its value, or its range and how fast it moves.

Editor

  • A patch opens paused on its first frame, in the desktop and web editors alike, and plays when Play is pressed.
  • A text patch reads the same whichever plugins are installed: a plugin's module no longer takes a built-in's short name, so hsv is still color.hsv with the Picture plugin loaded.
  • A text patch that does not open says which line and column, and what is wrong there.
  • Measure, on Ctrl+M at the end of the top toolbar, runs the patch for a few seconds from the playhead and pins what each output carries beside its socket, for the selected modules or every one; hovering or the inspector, on a module or a group, gives the sound and the picture apart, and an edit greys them until the next.
  • A measured color, or a number that varies across the screen, shows the picture it made at the playhead; the inspector turns to the one at the end of the window, and holding the mouse on it shows the end. Settings → Canvas sets how long Measure runs and whether its picture grid is small, medium or large.
  • Record sits beside Measure at the end of the top toolbar.
  • Pause, rewind, the seek bar, length, loop and Volume have a row of their own along the foot of the window, with finger-sized buttons, the time beside a window-wide seek bar and a toolbar button to put it away.
  • A touch screen has buttons for what keys did alone: select all and paste on the toolbar, copy, cut and laying out only the selection on the inspector, and A+ and A− for the code view's text size.
  • The toolbar keeps one row however narrow the window, with what does not fit in a menu at its end.
  • A panel knob dragged onto another swaps places with it; dropped between two, it slips in there as before.
  • Settings → MIDI keeps the panel knobs in a fixed grid of columns and rows, so each stays in its controller knob's row and column at any width, in the editor, over the picture and in the desktop viewer (--knob-grid 8x2).
  • The settings are regrouped: Graphics is Picture, the startup patch is under Files, Updates and Usage share a Privacy tab, and Recording lists a video's rate and quality after its format.
  • Every setting is kept in one settings.json; settings saved by an earlier version are not read, so they start over from the defaults.
  • The knob panel randomizes: a die, Ctrl+Shift+K or a learned controller button or pad sends every knob not held somewhere new, within an amount and over a glide set on the panel, and an arrow goes back.

Sound

  • A drum machine or sequencer the patch listens to plays it from the top on Start, pauses it on Stop and plays on on Continue; Settings → MIDI turns it off.
  • A Clock In runs ahead by the sound device's latency, so a patch's kick lands with the drum machine's rather than just after it, and its nudge takes up whatever latency the device cannot report.
  • Latency can be set as low as 5 ms, and on Windows anything under 10 ms plays in the low-latency shared mode of a device that has one.
  • The Maximizer's style is a dropdown in the inspector instead of a socket.

Web

  • The web viewer's panel knobs are rotary knobs in a column beside the picture, found by name and put back all at once; on a phone they sit in a sheet under the picture, beside keys to play the patch on and what it is for.
  • The web viewer has a Loop button beside the clock, as the desktop viewer does, to play a patch's length round and round; flyback.loop(on) sets it for a script.
  • The preset site keeps a shared patch brotli-packed, a seventh the size, and sends it that way to a browser that takes it.

Fixes

  • A MIDI device Windows registers again under a number ("2 - Elektron Syntakt") is still the same device, so its learned knobs and MIDI Ins keep hearing it.
  • The assistant no longer offers a patch whose wired sound is silent, unless it says the patch starts silent.
  • Asked to listen or for a loudness while it cannot hear, the assistant says so rather than quoting a level it never measured.
  • An assistant that built a patch and stopped without offering it is asked once to offer it, so the work reaches the canvas.
  • A new conversation opens with the patch, so the assistant no longer spends a request asking for it.
  • Frames and clips sent back to the assistant say they come from Flyback, so a model no longer thanks the person for them and waits instead of offering the patch.
  • A warning the assistant is told names its module (output1), so it no longer tries to add a second Output.
  • An OpenAI account out of credit is reported at once rather than retried.
  • Dialogs fit a narrow window: the margin around one shrinks to nothing before its content is cut off, and a dialog wider than the window scrolls sideways.

v0.6.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 30 Sep 23:03

128 commits since 0.5.1.

Presets

  • Machine Room, on the preset site: techno to jam on, with twenty-four panel knobs that move the picture as well as the sound, a keyboard split into the groove's key and chord stabs, a held low key that builds to a drop, and a drum machine's MIDI clock followed while it runs.
  • Flyback Theme is a showcase preset: Flyback's own song, three minutes of synthwave in A minor on a two-channel scope.
  • Overworld's verse is on Em Am G Bm, rather than the chords Flyback Theme opens with.
  • Whole band, Acid, Mycelium, Bronze, Outrun, Phase, Fracture, Overworld and Vigil last one pass of their arrangement, so they loop where they come round, and Phase goes through its canons again the second time.
  • Every shipped preset carries tags, shown and searched on the presets page and in the gallery.
  • The preset gallery shows the shipped presets by stills the release drew, rather than drawing each one.
  • Presets are listed by name under each heading, the same on the desktop and the web.
  • With no startup preset chosen, or one this run does not offer, the editor and the viewer open on Plasma.

Sound

  • The sound is oversampled 2× by default, at half the cost, and Settings → Sound picks none, 2× or 4×; a take, flyback-cli render and flyback-viewer follow it, and --oversample overrides it for one run.
  • Sound that keeps falling behind while it plays is worked out a step lower, 4× to 2× to 1×, rather than stuttering; Settings → Sound turns it off, and the web viewer and web editor always do it.
  • A Clock In left to follow whatever is plugged in says nothing when no instrument is.
  • Time says how long the patch plays for and how far through it the patch is, as length and progress; the text reads them as t.length and t.progress.

Interface

  • The status bar and the full-screen stats line name what draws the picture (OpenGL, Direct3D, WebGL or CPU) and what oversampling the sound runs at, and say how many times real time the sound renders at; the op count reads as picture/sound, and modules and wires are no longer counted. Settings → Graphics picks the renderer in one Renderer box.
  • A patch with no sound has no Volume on the toolbar, no sound button over a full-screen picture, and nothing of oversampling or render speed anywhere.
  • The Output's Volume is on the toolbar, beside the seek bar.
  • Emptying the length box beside the seek bar takes the patch's length away; the viewer and the web viewer show no seek bar for a patch that does not say its length, and play it on past three minutes.
  • The toolbar's side button puts the preview and the inspector away, giving the canvas their width.
  • The editor works on a touch screen: two fingers pan and zoom, a finger held still is a right-click, and the toolbar and panel gain buttons for adding a module, framing the patch and duplicating; the module list and the preset gallery wait for their box to be tapped before bringing up the on-screen keyboard.
  • A window too narrow for the canvas beside the preview and the inspector, a tablet or a phone held upright, shows one at a time by the side button, and its toolbar wraps onto more rows.
  • The editor starts again with a library folder set under Settings → Files.

Web

  • The presets page lists the presets Flyback ships with, marked as built in, beside the shared ones, and on GitHub Pages alone; a search and the tags narrow both; Play opens one in the web viewer and Edit in the web editor. A shared preset's card has Play as well.
  • A shared preset needing a plugin Flyback in a browser lacks is offered only as a download, the presets page naming the plugin; the web viewer refuses one rather than playing it in part, and the gallery lists it with the plugin it needs.
  • A shared preset opened once is kept with its still, its stars and everything the preset site said of it, so the gallery lists it and it opens while the site does not answer; one the site has taken down is forgotten.
  • The web editor on the preset site sends a letter to Flyback's author, and its gallery opens presets shared there; the copy on GitHub Pages offers neither.
  • The web editor's toolbar leads with the Flyback mark, back to the site, and the browser asks before leaving an edited patch; the web viewer's header shows the mark in place of its name.
  • Dragging a knob in the web editor recompiles at a pace the page keeps up with, rather than stuttering the sound.
  • The web editor's View it plays the patch as edited in the web viewer, in a tab of its own, and the web viewer's Edit it opens what it plays in the web editor.
  • The web viewer offers 1920 × 1080 and Picture off, which plays the sound alone; it turns a phone sideways when it goes full screen and keeps the screen on while it plays.
  • A Scope, an Analyzer or a Sample in the picture is drawn on the GPU rather than the processor, and in the web viewer and web editor rather than as a flat line.

Command line

  • flyback-cli save saves a patch or a shipped preset as .fbk, .fbks or .fbkb, by the extension it is saved to.
  • flyback-cli shot draws the editor's window with a patch open into a PNG, its picture at the second --at names, with no screen and no sound; --crop keeps only the canvas around the modules.
  • flyback-cli stills draws the shipped presets' stills.
  • flyback-cli info says how long a patch plays, and whether it sets its length.
  • flyback-cli pack and check take --preset, and a preset name nobody shipped is answered with the ones there are.
  • flyback-cli plugin describe says what a .fbkp package is and what its code reaches, as the install dialog would, without running it.

Fixes

  • A patch file with a null where a module or a wire belongs is refused on opening; one saved with a byte order mark opens on the preset site and in the web viewer and editor.
  • A name, author or description cut to length no longer splits an emoji in two.
  • The preset site's search ignores case beyond ASCII.
  • Printed as text, a patch keeps its very small numbers, fractional counts, very low notes and quoted descriptions exactly, and names a plugin's module in full where a built-in shares its short name.
  • A knob, off or back-wire statement inside a def's braces is read as one.
  • Turning a knob on the canvas no longer rewrites a number the text shares with other knobs.
  • The assistant cannot remove the Output, set a knob past what a float holds, or take a handle the text cannot print; it reads an endpoint's refusal however it is shaped and a token count written with a fraction, and a saved conversation with a field written twice opens as none.
  • A key pasted with a trailing space is still kept out of messages, and one pasted into a message stays out of the conversation log.
