Along with @ovflowd's issue to make this work for other toolings, I think we should give our tooling a name. This will make it easier to reference outside of the Node.js Project
Okay, it's been about a week, the winning candidate was @nodejs/doc-kit. If you have any strong objections, please voice them now, and we can begin the naming process.
I don't think we need to change the repo name, we should just update the package.json, and replace all references to api-docs-tooling with @nodejs/doc-kit

I'd suggest to avoid that one to prevent confusion with https://www.sphinx-doc.org/.

can we use gh vote in discussion ?
avivkeller commentedon Jul 2, 2025
I don't think that's needed, we should brainstorm and collectively agree on the name
dario-piotrowicz commentedon Jul 4, 2025
would something like
@nodejs/webgenbe too boring? 😅ovflowd commentedon Jul 5, 2025
@nodejs/fate that sounds fun. Does this suggestion has anything to do with the Fate series from Type Moon? ARE WE DECIDING THE FATE OF NODEJS???
avivkeller commentedon Jul 5, 2025
I don't even know how to respond to that.
But the name "fate" comes from Greek mythology, where the ultimate source of truth comes from the three fates, and their threads.
ovflowd commentedon Jul 5, 2025
Let me be a happy Otaku. Hahaha. Anyways, the analogy to the Greek mythology date is interesting, but not truly sure if fitting.

Other myths of information include
@nodejs/doc-kit(or similar) has a double meaning, even @nodejs/kit to an extent)AugustinMauroy commentedon Jul 6, 2025

I just discovered a new mythological being, Hermes (
@nodejs/hermes) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermesavivkeller commentedon Jul 8, 2025
My personal favorite is
@nodejs/kit/@nodejs/doc-kitor something, since it has a double meaningnodejs/dokit? “Doc It”, but that’s a stretch. On that note, without a double meaning,@nodejs/docketdario-piotrowicz commentedon Jul 8, 2025
@nodejs/doc-kitsounds great to me 😄ovflowd commentedon Jul 8, 2025
Too common. We need something that is more exquisite xD; Words such as Hermes, Odin, etc... Are too common.

Let's use

Let's get a supermajority (13/21 / 62%, or 60%+ of voters the end of a week) vote before choosing a name. You may vote multiple times.
I'm aware not all the options are the most fit–I'm trying to give a variety.
