Release content (bundles 8.70.1 + 8.71.0 fixes)
Pulled from the PR body:
- One new rule,
no-unsafe-enum-assignment— opt-in, requires explicit configuration, so it will not fire against existing lint runs unless enabled. - All other diffs are bug fixes to existing rules (
no-misused-promises,unbound-method,no-unnecessary-type-assertion,switch-exhaustiveness-check,no-explicit-any,await-thenable, several others). Fixes can in principle increase or decrease true-positive output, but the risk of introducing a fresh wave of lint failures is low given the scope of each fix.
Lockfile correctness
bun.lock now contains two coexisting hoisted trees:
- Top-level
@typescript-eslint/eslint-plugin@8.71.0plus its ownscope-manager,type-utils,utils,visitor-keys,typescript-estree,project-service,tsconfig-utils, and nestedtypesall at 8.71.0. - Nested
@typescript-eslint/parser/@typescript-eslint/scope-manager@8.70.0and.../visitor-keys@8.70.0keep the parser's tree at 8.70.0.
This is the correct bun resolution for the current state and will dedupe once parser moves to 8.71.0 in #489.
Peer dependency drift
The 8.71.0 plugin declares:
peerDependencies: { "@typescript-eslint/parser": "^8.71.0", ... }
The repo still pins @typescript-eslint/parser: 8.70.0. This produces a peer-dep warning rather than an install failure. Renovate opened the companion update as PR #489 on branch renovate/typescript-eslint-monorepo the same minute as this PR (both at 2026-10-28T20:48Z); both have shared-preset automerge: true, automergeType: pr. The repo's historical convention — PRs #292/#304/#325/#335/#356 — is also to bump the plugin and parser in separate PRs, so this transient mismatch is expected and self-correcting.
Config and gate compliance

Confidence held at 95% rather than 100% only because the fix list is long enough that one of the rule tweaks could legitimately flip output on this codebase's existing code. Lint CI gates that risk on this PR.
Follow-ups:
- P2: Prefer merging #489 (parser bump) within the same automerge window to avoid leaving
@typescript-eslint/parserbehind the plugin's declared peer range. Shared automerge should handle this naturally; no manual action required unless one PR gets stuck.
