Ubuntu 17.10 will not boot after updating to 4.15 #208
I put a fresh install of ubuntu 17.10 on my Pixel 2015. ran apt update && apt dist-upgrade and restarted. cloned this project and ran sudo dpkg -i *.deb in the build/debian directory. rebooted to a black screen. laptop is non-responsive.
I'm not sure how to recover. I don't know what else to do except re-install.
Thanks for doing the research work, next step is to diff the configs between the last working version and the first non-working one. I'll take a look when I get a chance if you don't beat me to it.

I was able to switch back to the generic kernel by chroot from the USB install drive and removing the packages:
sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt sudo mount --bind /dev /mnt/dev sudo mount --bind /proc /mnt/proc sudo mount --bind /sys /mnt/sys sudo chroot /mnt # in the chroot: dpkg --purge linux-headers-4.15.0-ph+ dpkg --purge linux-image-4.15.0-ph+ dpkg --purge linux-libc-dev_4.15.0-ph+luv2code commentedon Feb 16, 2018
I bisected the history and found the problem starts with 7c2fcc1

I'm sorry, I didn't notice this the first time I ran this. This is from the head of master:

I'm hopeful the latest release (
v4.15-7) fixed the issue however I can't test directly so please give it a shot and let me know.luv2code commentedon Feb 20, 2018
I'm sorry to report that this latest one still doesn't work. It won't boot, and I'm still getting the Module not found errors on install.

I have the same problem with Ubuntu 17.10 and kernel 4.16. Any ideas?

The workaround is to stick to the last 4.14. I check every time he pushes a new kernel.
