tests: Unify validate_cluster_config tests - #1398
olivergondza wants to merge 3 commits into
Conversation
Merge the test from argocd-operator. Both the tests were written differently testing conceptually similar thing (creation of ConfigMap, ClusterRole and ClusterRoleBinding) in 2 different situations: - Having the namespace declared in ARGOCD_CLUSTER_CONFIG_NAMESPACES initially - Adding the namespace into ARGOCD_CLUSTER_CONFIG_NAMESPACES when Argo CD was running Signed-off-by: Oliver Gondža <ogondza@gmail.com>

127-164: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winPreserve live-update ApplicationSet RBAC coverage.
The existing status test covers enabling ApplicationSet after creation, but it only checks status
Running. The replacement dynamic-namespace test configures ApplicationSet at creation, so it no longer checks whether a live update creates the ApplicationSet ClusterRole and ClusterRoleBinding. A regression in that path can pass.Suggested fix

138-139: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winAssert that the application-controller ClusterRole is absent before the update.
ARGOCD_CLUSTER_CONFIG_NAMESPACESexcludes the test namespace before the update, so the application-controller ClusterRole should not exist at that point. The test only checks that the ClusterRole exists afterward. Without the negative assertion, a resource that existed before the update can satisfy the final check.Suggested fix

checkClusterConfigchecks ApplicationSet RBAC objects but notStatus.ApplicationSetController. Both tests can therefore pass when Argo CD is available, the server is running, and the RBAC resources exist while the ApplicationSet controller is not running.
