Mock setup extensions now allocate receiver and local identifiers around the mocked type's source parameter and type parameter names. Interfaces with parameters named mock, matchers, or their suffixed forms compile, and setup dispatch consistently uses the allocated receiver across ordinary, predicate, generic, closed-generic, params, indexer, and secondary-interface surfaces. Safe existing names stay unchanged.
Regression tests compile and execute setups with escaped names and suffix collisions, including params/indexer and generic/secondary-interface dispatch. The generator snapshot records the allocated names.
Validation:
All 233 mocks generator tests and snapshots passed on net10.0.
Targeted Issue7657 runtime tests passed on net10.0 and the net9.0 build (the latter executed on .NET 10 via DOTNET_ROLL_FORWARD=Major; .NET 9 is not installed).
Fixed generated mock setups that could fail when method parameters, indexer parameters, or generic type parameters used names matching generated identifiers.
Improved compatibility for setups involving params arguments and mocks that combine multiple interfaces.
The source generator now selects collision-free identifiers for generated mock setup receivers and local variables. New snapshot and runtime tests cover methods, params arguments, indexers, generic setups, and secondary interfaces.
Changes: Setup identifier generation
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Select and emit collision-free identifiers src/TUnit.Mocks.SourceGenerator/Builders/MockMembersBuilder.cs, src/TUnit.Mocks.SourceGenerator/Builders/ClosedGenericRegistrationBuilder.cs
The generator selects unused names for setup receivers, engine locals, matcher arrays, and params-loop variables. Generated setup paths use those names.
The snapshot and runtime tests cover generated setups with identifier-like parameters, params methods, indexers, generic methods, and secondary interfaces.
Issue 7660 concerns repeated scans of model members in GetSetupIdentifier, which this change introduces.

Explanation
Issue #7657 is the only active direct link. Its requirement is that generated setup extensions allocate receiver and local names that do not collide with source parameter names such as matchers and mock, with compilation regression coverage.
Evidence at the reviewed head:
MockMembersBuilder.GetSetupIdentifier(model, preferredName) scans all method and property parameters, method and property type parameters, and model type parameters. It appends _ until the preferred name is unoccupied. The diff shows this helper used for the extension receivers (mock, including generic, property, indexer, and wrapper receivers), the __engine local, the matchers arrays, the mock receiver in this-receiver bodies, and the params-loop temporaries (__paramsElementMatchers, __i).
GetEngineExpression and FormatMemberId resolve the same allocated names, so setup bodies and the receiver declaration agree.
ClosedGenericRegistrationBuilder uses the allocated receiver name, per the raw change summary.
tests/TUnit.Mocks.Tests/Issue7657Tests.cs compiles and executes mocks of an interface with parameters @mock, mock_, @matchers, matchers_, __engine, __i, and __paramsElementMatchers. It covers ordinary, predicate, params, indexer, generic-method, and secondary-interface (Mock.Of<IPrimary, IService>()) setups. These runtime tests compile the generated code, which provides the requested compilation coverage.
A snapshot test (Issue7657Tests in the generator tests) records the generated output for IService.
Limitation: the diff output was truncated after EmitParamsExpandedOverload. The remaining generator hunks were not inspected directly. The author reports that 233 generator tests and snapshots passed. This assessment relies on the inspected hunks and the author's test report for the remaining paths.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
All changes fall within the identifier-collision scope of #7657:
MockMembersBuilder.cs: identifier allocation through GetSetupIdentifier, and replacement of fixed mock, matchers, __engine, __i, and __paramsElementMatchers identifiers in generated setup code.
ClosedGenericRegistrationBuilder.cs: one-line change that uses the allocated receiver name.
Issue7657Tests.cs (generator tests and runtime tests) and the associated snapshot file: regression coverage and recorded generated output for the reported collision case.
The PR description states that safe existing names remain unchanged, so the allocator does not alter output for non-colliding parameters. The PR does not include the repeated model-scan caching refactor, which the PR summary assigns to #7660. No unrelated behavior change appears in the reviewed hunks.

A rabbit checks each name with care, No fixed mock or matchers there. The setup grows, the tests run through, Generic paths avoid clashes too. Then hops away with identifiers new.
The fix is correct and sensibly scoped. Reserving one identifier per model, and using it for the receiver and every local, keeps the extension-block receiver and the setup bodies consistent. Safe names are unchanged, so existing snapshots stay stable. I only read the diff and did not build or run the tests.
Suggestion: compute the identifiers once per model instead of on every call.
GetSetupIdentifier rescans every method, property, parameter and type parameter of the model on each call. It also allocates through model.Methods.Concat(model.Properties).
It is called several times per emitted overload. EmitParamsExpandedOverload calls it about 6 times, and FormatMemberId and EmitEngineLookup call it per member.
For large interfaces this is quadratic work in an incremental-generator hot path.
A small SetupNames record with Mock, Matchers, Engine, ParamsMatchers and LoopIndex, resolved once at the top of each emit entry point and passed down, would be cheaper. It would also read better than repeating string literals like "matchers" across about 15 call sites. A typo in one of those literals would silently reintroduce the collision.
The same record could expose a Mock property for GetEngineExpression, so the mock literal is not duplicated.
Minor points
The occupied check uses TrimStart('@') on parameter names. This is fine, but the new identifier is built by appending _. If a user's parameter is already named mock_, the loop handles it. If the @ prefix were ever not stripped in TypeParameters, the check would miss the collision. The snapshot test only covers the simple case.
The tests cover mock and matchers in the snapshot. The runtime tests named in the description cover the suffix and generic cases. A short note on why __i and __paramsElementMatchers are covered would help. Those are compiler-style names that are unlikely to collide, so I would consider leaving them unrenamed to keep the diff smaller.
No blocking issues. The caching refactor is a nice-to-have.
Review disposition: verified the repeated model scans in GetSetupIdentifier. Claude and Greptile classify caching as nonblocking; #7660 tracks the refactor with before/after measurement and snapshot validation. This PR stays scoped to correctness. Issue7657Tests explicitly exercises parameters named __i and __paramsElementMatchers, which explains allocating those locals too.
Both required reviewers approved e1cc8b0. Marked ready; the ready_for_review Claude run and CI must complete before auto-merge is armed.
Review: the fix is correct. GetSetupIdentifier is applied consistently across ordinary, params, indexer, generic and secondary-interface setups, safe names are unchanged, and the snapshot and regression tests cover the collisions. No blocking issues. Non-blocking suggestions: (1) GetSetupIdentifier is called many times per member and each call does Methods.Concat(Properties) plus a full parameter scan, which allocates and is O(members x params). Compute the names once per model, for example a small SetupNames record passed down, which also stops call sites drifting apart. (2) Other generated identifiers are not reserved: _fa, _ (the AnyArgs parameter) and value in setters. A parameter with one of those names could still collide, so reserve them in the same names table. Overall good and well tested.
