The module-level documentation had a stray fragment and a misplaced heading, making the first paragraph incomplete and the semantics section start without a proper header. The change removes the orphaned text, promotes "Semantics" to a top-level heading, and tightens the prose about how the task-local scope is read. …oviders Add a function that renders the ambient per-turn memory-source allowlist into the SourceScope type used by the MemoryProvider bus. This is the core mechanism for bridging the host-side task-local scope, which is gathered once per turn, into every provider call that accepts a scope, rather than requiring the driver to read a task-local it cannot see. The function carefully preserves None as unrestricted, because mapping unrestricted onto an empty SourceScope would invert the policy and silently deny all source-attributed items. Remove five entries from the `ALLOWED` constant that listed files whose facade-revealed or needs-wider-seam verdicts are no longer relevant, keeping the test focused on currently active dependency exceptions. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>

Changed the import in the RPC retrieval module from `fetch_leaves` to `fetch_leaves_scoped` to ensure leaf fetching respects the current scope boundaries, preventing retrieval of out-of-scope data during RPC calls. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Replace the unscoped `query_source` and `drill_down` calls with their scoped counterparts, threading the current source scope from the RPC layer into the retrieval pipeline. This ensures that both RPC endpoints respect the caller's source visibility constraints, aligning them with the existing scoped behaviour already applied in `cover_window_rpc`. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Add a new `redact` module under `openhuman::util` to provide PII redaction functionality for log output. This module is placed here rather than in the memory engine to keep the redaction logic separate and reusable across different parts of the system. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Replace all references to `tinymemory_core::util::redact::redact` with the local `crate::openhuman::util::redact::redact` across six files, removing the dependency on the external crate for this utility function. The local redact module was already present and functionally identical, so this change consolidates the codebase and eliminates an unnecessary external dependency. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Updated the test module's doc comment and assertion to reference `tinymemory_core::util::redact::redact` instead of the old `crate::openhuman::util::redact::redact` path, reflecting the module's relocation to the `tinymemory_core` crate. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>

Resolve the current thread ID before constructing the `RecallOpts` struct so that the self-echo exclusion is available on both the in-process and loadable-module paths. The engine's task-local `thread_context` is invisible on the far side of a module boundary, causing the exclusion to be absent and the agent to receive its own prior output; hoisting the lookup here keeps the behaviour identical regardless of how memory is reached. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Replace the runtime comparison against `tinymemory_core::util::redact::redact` with a hardcoded expected value, removing the cross-crate dependency that the test existed to avoid. The pinned constant tests the same byte-parity property without requiring an allowlist entry in the facade reference tests. Update all imports and documentation references from the `tinymemory_core` crate to the new `tinymemory_api` crate across the memory module. This change reflects the extraction of the public API surface into a dedicated crate, keeping the core implementation separate from the interface consumers depend on. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Removed a test case for `src/openhuman/memory/host.rs` from the allowed paths list in the direct engine refs tests, as this file is no longer part of the in-process engine seam and the test entry was no longer relevant. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>

Add a test module that verifies the engine's `SourceKind` type and the API contract's `SourceKind` type are the same item at compile time, not merely structurally identical. This prevents accidental type mismatches when the two crates diverge. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Removed a test-only module that verified two `SourceKind` types were the same item, as this check is no longer needed after the type unification. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
…ry_api Update all imports of chunk-related types (`SourceKind`, `Chunk`, `Metadata`, `SourceRef`, `chunk_id`, `approx_token_count`) to use the new `tinymemory_api::chunks` module instead of the deprecated `tinymemory_core::store::chunks::types` path, aligning with the ongoing API extraction effort. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Remove three entries from the bypass allowlist that referenced `MemoryClient::from_workspace_dir` in test-only modules, and one entry from the direct engine refs allowlist that described a false-positive type confusion. These entries are no longer needed because the scanner now correctly brace-tracks `#[cfg(test)]` blocks and the type carve-out warning has been resolved. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
…t_support.rs An upstream refactor externalised inline tests from types.rs into a new types_test_support.rs file, moving the MemoryClient::from_workspace_dir fixture along with them. Adding this entry keeps the bypass allowlist in sync with the current source layout. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
…ory_api` Replace all internal `crate::openhuman::memory::api` import paths with the external `tinymemory_api` crate, reflecting the extraction of the memory API into a standalone library. This change touches 36 files across the core, agent, channels, flows, and modules subsystems, updating type references, trait implementations, and documentation comments to use the new crate path without altering any runtime behaviour. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Update the pinned commit for the tinymemory vendored dependency to incorporate upstream fixes or improvements. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
… trap The documentation for the TinyMemory module's gap list was outdated, listing several capability families as unimplemented when they have since landed as real features. The note about the `SourceKind` type conflict is also removed because `tinycortex-api` now re-exports `tinymemory-bus`, making the two types identical. The update adds guidance about task-locals not crossing the bus, the module release lagging the vendored source, and a general warning that near-identical crate types still require compile-time verification. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
…amily The doc comment in the memory guard module now acknowledges that the previously missing `MemoryProfile` family exists in `tinymemory_api` and is implemented by `GuardedProfile`, so the guarded door is built. The note clarifies that the remaining work is migrating callers onto it and warns against the host-side half-measure of having `ProfileStore` consult `GuardPolicy` directly, which would introduce a behaviour change. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
… resolved seam gaps Updated the module-level documentation in the direct engine refs tests to replace the outdated list of missing bus capabilities with a current summary. The previous enumeration of four retrieval gaps, the people domain, and source_scope has been superseded because all of those now have implementations in MemoryRetrieval, MemoryChunks, MemoryPeople, and MemoryProfile. The documentation now clarifies that the remaining blockers are release lag in the pinned artifact rather than missing seam features, and identifies the ingest queue, chat runtime, and composio sync pipelines as the next upstream work items. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
The test assertion for provider capabilities is updated to include four new entries — chunks, people, profile, and retrieval — that gained bus members in the v1.2.0 registry re-pin. The episodic capability remains absent because the artifact serves it but ModuleMemoryProvider lacks an as_episodic method, so advertising it would over-claim. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
The unused `MemoryClient` import was removed from the helpers module to eliminate a compiler warning about unused imports, keeping the codebase clean and warning-free. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
The bound driver probe test previously asserted that `Retrieval` was absent and that thirteen of eighteen capability families were served, matching the v1.0.1 artifact. The registry now pins v1.2.0, which adds bus members for four more families, so the test is updated to expect `Retrieval` to be present and to document that `Episodic` remains the one withheld family, now because `ModuleMemoryProvider` lacks `as_episodic` rather than because the artifact omits it. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
The pinned tinymemory artifact was upgraded from v1.0.1 to v1.2.0, which serves seventeen contract families instead of thirteen. Comments and test documentation across the memory module and its tests are updated to reflect the new version and the corrected family count, ensuring the documentation accurately describes the current behavior. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Reordered `use` statements across 42 files so that external crate imports appear after internal crate imports, and grouped related imports together. This is a purely cosmetic change with no effect on behaviour, done to align with the project's import style conventions. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
The `as_bus_scope` function was wrapping the result of `current_source_scope` in a closure that simply called `SourceScope::new` on each element, which is redundant when the constructor can be passed directly to `map`. This change simplifies the code by using the function directly. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>

Separate served capabilities from advertised capabilities
With the pinned v1.2.0 artifact, the module serves and reports Episodic (as the new test comments at modules/memory_tests.rs:278-280 confirm), while this advertised-capability list intentionally omits it because the host lacks as_episodic. However, verify() compares the module's full Capabilities response directly with this 17-family list, so every first module use reports that the registry and artifact have diverged even when the correct v1.2.0 artifact is loaded. Keep a separate artifact-served set for verification, or otherwise account for the intentionally withheld family while retaining this narrower advertised set.

💡 Result:
In the OpenHuman project, query_source_scoped and child_ids are components of the system's memory and retrieval architecture, specifically related to the memory_tree subsystem [1][2]. OpenHuman utilizes a memory engine, now primarily maintained within the tinycortex crate (vendored at vendor/tinycortex), to organize and retrieve data [3]. 1. child_ids: This field is a property of SummaryNode objects within the memory tree [4]. It is represented as a list of identifiers (Vec<String>) that link a summary node to its children, facilitating hierarchical navigation of the memory structure [4]. The drill_down retrieval tool uses these child_ids to perform a bread-first search (BFS) or traversal of the tree [5][2]. 2. query_source_scoped: This refers to the query_source tool (often referenced in documentation and code as the implementation for source-scoped retrieval) [1][5]. It allows the orchestrator agent to retrieve information scoped to a specific source or memory tree [6][2]. As part of the memory tree retrieval tools, it enables the system to answer queries by filtering memory based on source_id and source_kind, ensuring the agent accesses relevant, scoped context [6][1]. These tools and fields were wired into the orchestrator agent in pull request #1027, allowing the agent to reason about memory structure, including tree_scope and child_ids, when performing deep research or answering user queries [2].

Filter hydrated chunks by the active source scope.
query_source_scoped filters summaries by tree_scope, but recall_rpc hydrates every child_id by ID only. Storage accepts arbitrary SummaryNode.child_ids, so an allowed summary can expose a chunk outside the active allowlist. Apply scope filtering during hydration and add a mixed-scope recall test.

recall_rpc hydration after query_source_scoped so child chunks are filtered
using the active current_source_scope before being returned, rather than
trusting child_id lookups alone. Preserve allowed summaries while excluding
hydrated chunks outside the scope, and add a mixed-scope recall test covering an
allowed summary that references both in-scope and out-of-scope chunks.

…\nfix(memory): carry source scope and self-echo exclusion across the bus; re-pin tinymemory v1.2.0\n
Why
The memory subsystem has two live paths: the in-process
tinymemory-coreengine, and
ModuleMemoryProviderover the TinyBus module. The goal is one —the host speaks
tinymemory-apiand reaches the engine over the bus. This isthe first substantive slice of that, and it is mostly correctness, not
tidying: two permission checks were silently failing open on the bus path.
The two bugs
Per-turn source scope did not cross the bus.
AgentProfile::memory_sourceswas read from the engine's
source_scopetask-local. The module is a separatelycompiled
cdylibwith its own statics, so that task-local reads as absent on thefar side — and absent means unrestricted. A profile's source gate silently
stopped applying.
Neither did the self-echo exclusion.
store::recall_policyresolved it fromthread_context, with the same failure: absent means exclude nothing, so anagent recalling mid-turn gets handed back what it just said. That module's own
docs already named the fix — "an
exclude_session_idfield upstream … is thechange that unblocks the rest of this hoist".
Both now cross as values.
SourceScopewas already a bus payload;RecallOpts::exclude_session_idis new (tinyhumansai/tinymemory#83).What changed here
memory::source_scopeis host-owned now, withas_bus_scope()joining itto the provider vocabulary. Four
memory_tree_*RPC handlers moved off theambient variants onto
cover_window_scoped/query_source_scoped/drill_down_scoped/fetch_leaves_scoped.cover_window_rpc_honors_profile_source_scopecaught the one I would otherwise have missed; the other three had no test.
memory.query_namespacenow goes throughMemoryGuard, so it runs theseven policy steps it previously skipped, and
query_limit_for_requesttakesthe guard rather than a raw
MemoryClient.316
memory::api::…references outsidesrc/openhuman/memory/repointedat
tinymemory_apidirectly — the codebase's own guidance ("Prefer namingtinymemory_apidirectly in new code"). Those sites no longer depend on thememory module at all.
Chunk types repointed at the contract crate. The
CLAUDE.mdwarning thatthe engine's and the contract's
SourceKindare distinct types is stale;verified with a compile-time identity probe, then by the compiler itself.
util::redact— OpenHuman now owns its six-line log redactor instead ofborrowing the engine's. Its parity assertion pins a literal (
c3e9777d)rather than calling
tinymemory_core, which would have reintroduced the verydependency the change removes.
Registry re-pinned to tinymemory v1.2.0, digests taken verbatim from the
release's
checksum.tomland verified: 11/11 match, none missing, none extra. The capability boundary moved 13 → 17 families. This is the part the
re-pin actually turns on, and the repo's own guards forced it: bumping the
registry version alone left
ARTIFACT_CAPABILITIESdescribing v1.0.1, whichthe_capability_list_matches_the_pinned_releasecaught with an explicit"re-read
Capability::ALLat the new tag". Four more assertions hard-codedthe old boundary (
memory::binding,memory::ops::provider,modules::memory, andcore::cli_capability); all now assert the new one,and assert the four families ARE advertised so a future re-pin that silently
narrows the list is caught the same way an over-claim would be.
Episodicis deliberately withheld.Capability::ALLis 18 at v1.2.0 andthe artifact does serve the episodic methods — but
ModuleMemoryProviderhasno
as_episodic, so it inherits the trait default and returnsNone.Advertising a family this host cannot reach is Staging: tinymemory capability mismatch (8191 vs 262143) — memory_tree, memory_store_raw_chunks, memory_diff all failing #5598 in a different coat. It
goes in with the accessor, not before.
What I deliberately did NOT do
memory.recall_contextandmemory.recall_memoriesare not migrated.MemoryRetrieval::recall_namespace_scoredlooks like their twin and is not: itresolves to the query-ranked
query_namespace_hitspath, while both handlersuse
recall_namespace_memories, a distinct recency path. They share a prefixand diverge after it, so the swap compiles and returns plausible hits while
quietly changing what users get back. An empty query does not degrade to
recency. Recorded as a concrete upstream ask (a
RecallNamespaceRecent-shapedmethod) in
memory::direct_engine_refs_tests.store::safety::{sanitize_text, has_likely_secret, sanitize_json}stay on theengine. They are
regex-based, andtinymemory-api's manifest forbids regexin its normal graph. Repointing them at
tinycortexwould have dropped 11 moreentries from the ratchet without moving the substance — exactly what that lint's
docs warn against.
Measured progress
Direct
tinymemory_core::references: 400 → 352; production files110 → 101. Both ratchets kept green and shrinking —
direct_engine_refs_tests101 → 93 entries,bypass_allowlist_tests37 → 35.Every removal is a file that genuinely stopped naming the engine; the staleness
half of each ratchet enforces that.
Docs corrected
Three claims that cost real time to disprove: the
SourceKindwarning above;the ratchet's gap list (retrieval / chunks / people / profile / episodic all
exist now — the blocker was release lag, not seam width); and
memory/guard/mod.rs's "the contract has no profile/facet capability family",which
MemoryProfilehas since falsified.Verification
