fix(sdk): make continuation and union read result types truthful - #1529
Conversation
Represent producer continuation metadata as optional using the same key inventory that the runtime suppresses. Expose the typed reference contract through the public SDK entrypoints and keep first-page and low-level producer results intact. Handle optional cursors and generic option records without promising metadata that the runtime can omit. Distribute result selection across option unions before inspecting keys, so budget, session and output-cursor variants retain the omission branch. Add compile-time forbidden-access checks and compile the consumer through an actual npm tarball alongside native, CLI, MCP and Node/Bun continuation acceptance. Allocate the existing context decision corpus keeper to the established serial phase. Prove allocation with a failing-before membership check while preserving its population, assertions, deadlines, retry policy and coverage denominator. Extend the existing recurrence lineage and document the acceptance contract. Include CLI-managed PM evidence and structured closeout, the reviewed SDK compatibility snapshot, and the package-generated changelog. Preserve initial failed verification receipts and the separate qualified transport-budget observation rather than changing performance or quality thresholds. PM: pm-oybmsd, pm-jqgkis, pm-j2vwbh

Reviewer's GuideThe PR makes SDK read declarations accurately model sparse producer continuation pages and budget-capable option unions by centralizing runtime metadata suppression, distributing result types over option variants, exporting the continuation contract through public SDK entrypoints, and validating the behavior across source, packed-package, native, CLI, MCP, and scheduled integration-test paths. Use an empty-key default for the client and standalone list, context and search generics. The previous default included optional output controls, which made an omitted argument less precise than an explicit empty object. Explicit budget, session, output-cursor and producer-cursor options keep their omission and sparse-metadata narrowing contracts. Compile all six no-argument forms through the source and actual packed SDK declarations, retaining the existing negative union and continuation cases. Document the behavior and regenerate the SDK surface and package-owned changelog. Record review evidence and structured closure for pm-qal1uw; retain the separate unresolved CodSpeed comparison and local startup admission evidence on the existing performance owner. Validation: all four TypeScript configurations, three focused integration tests with Node and Bun, focused ESLint, SDK snapshot, documentation links and docstring quality. Fresh hosted checks remain required for this head.

SDK callers could treat sparse continuation metadata as required and could lose the budget-omission branch when options used a union. This change makes the native read declarations match those runtime outcomes while retaining the existing first-page and low-level producer contracts.
PM: pm-oybmsd, pm-jqgkis, pm-j2vwbh, pm-qal1uw. Tracker changes use the CLI and include structured defect evidence, linked verification and closure receipts. CHANGELOG.md is generated by the latest pm-changelog package.
Validation: isolated pre-fix compiler and scheduling failures; the review refinement passes all four TypeScript configurations and three focused native/CLI/MCP and packed Node/Bun integration checks; all four TypeScript configurations; native/CLI/MCP and packed Node/Bun continuation acceptance; all three PM-linked test suites; 10,922 passing tests with three configured skips across 841 files. Before the final type-only review refinement, the admitted source coverage merge passes exact 100/100/100/100 (66,427 lines, 70,072 statements, 14,436 functions, 53,858 branches). Terminal defect evidence, secret scanning and the latest package-owned changelog check pass.
Initial full-run and shard timeout receipts are retained. A complete unchanged shard replay passed in isolation before merging coverage. Local SDK imports pass; the separate qualified Node 26 CLI transport-budget failure remains tracked under pm-bj7rq0 without relaxed thresholds. Historical release reliability, legacy tracker advisories and cooldown/major dependency migrations remain separate existing work. Today’s sole release is verified; these changes remain Unreleased for the next eligible publication.
The final revised head must pass fresh hosted admission. CodeRabbit’s omitted-option precision finding is addressed with source and packed declaration assertions. CodSpeed’s initial Jaccard comparison reports a slowdown with a different-runtime-environments warning; the exact Chrome fallback failed because its debugger was unattached, and the unresolved comparison is retained in pm-bj7rq0.
