Session-suppressed SDK reads can return a reference in place of a full row. The public declarations now describe those references at declared row paths, including dynamic, optional, overlapping and numeric paths. Ordinary and budget-only reads keep their useful row types. The direct dimension helper infers session capability from concrete camel- or snake-case options while optional, union and dynamic options remain conservative. A public narrowing guard, source and packed-consumer type regressions, and migration guidance accompany the SDK snapshot update.

The SDK also provides same-command retry argv for the completeness and TOON mistakes in #1528. CLI guidance preserves operands, tracker selection and unrelated flags, and declines ambiguous or conflicting corrections, including an explicit JSON flag alongside TOON. Valid TOON suggestions are verified from human recovery without adding a conflicting diagnostics flag. Successful emitted retries are executed against isolated trackers with authoritative-byte comparisons.

Dependency-advisory verification now compares physical entrypoint paths. macOS directory aliases and Node's symlink-preserving main-module mode previously allowed an executable invocation to return success without executing the security check. Real and aliased subprocesses now emit verified receipts and reject invalid arguments; module imports remain inert.

PM implementation and evidence: pm-t1p1jv, pm-7gpx34, pm-tl7vlu. Tracker changes use the PM CLI. The latest published pm-changelog 2026.10.21 owns changelog generation. Broader grammar consolidation, dependency cooldowns and historical release reliability remain with their existing owners.

Validation:

  • Source typecheck and independent consumers of the real npm tarball declarations, including the packed Node/Bun runtime matrix.
  • 30 linked SDK/CLI recovery tests and 30 advisory/policy tests, with unchanged-source negative controls.
  • Packed npx and bunx smoke acceptance across nine packages.
  • Package-owned changelog generation/check, unchanged graph-quality bounds, and PM history/defect evidence checks.
  • Both native macOS and Windows Node24 nightly shards pass on the advisory implementation.
  • A specific recurrence family selects physical-path regression and native checks through the SDK/CLI assurance primitives.
  • Exact coverage and required hosted analyzers remain enforced before merge.

The full local static run reaches qualified SDK import-cost failures recorded under pm-bj7rq0. A separate transport measurement is runner-unqualified. These are retained as failures; no budget or timeout is changed. Historical scheduled-release reliability remains an independent open programme.

Fixes #1530
Refs #1528

Represent session-suppressed facts in public read result declarations instead
of promising fields that the output intentionally removed. Preserve ordinary
and budget-only row types, support literal and dynamic nested row contracts,
and export a structural reference guard with migration guidance.

Add an SDK-owned same-command recovery resolver for completeness and TOON
mistakes. Preserve argv operands, tracker selection and extension suppression;
decline malformed, conflicting, duplicate or wrong-path rewrites before
lexical fallbacks can discard presentation intent.

Add source and real npm-tarball declaration consumers, Node/Bun runtime
acceptance, emitted-retry replay and authoritative-byte preservation proof.
Record negative controls, linked verification, recurrence evidence and
structured PM closure; regenerate the changelog with pm-changelog 2026.10.21.

PM: pm-t1p1jv, pm-7gpx34

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 79201

SDK consumers who make session-free read calls would have to narrow for session references that cannot occur. A suggested CLI retry can also silently switch from JSON to TOON output. Both should be fixed before merge.

Explanation

Issue #1530 requests investigation of the macOS Node 24 nightly failure before release. The PR addresses a concrete executable-identity bypass with physical-path comparison in scripts/release/dependency-advisories/gate.mjs. The regression tests cover real and aliased entrypoints, --preserve-symlinks-main, valid receipts, and invalid arguments. The PR also reports passing native macOS and Windows Node 24 validation. Issue #1530 has no additional coding acceptance criteria.

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 92.86% which is sufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 14 functions across 15 files. (14 skipped: 14 unsupported.)

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The dependency-advisory fix, its tests, documentation, and recurrence policy connect to #1530. The SDK session-row type changes and the read-option retry recovery changes do not connect to the issue, which only concerns the macOS Node 24 nightly validation failure. Their related tests, public-surface updates, migration documentation, PM records, and changelog edits are also outside that issue's scope.

Resolution

Move the SDK session-row work and read-option retry recovery work, including their tests, public-surface updates, documentation, PM records, and changelog edits, to separate pull requests or provide active directly linked issue requirements for those changes. Keep this pull request focused on the dependency-advisory regression and the validation required by #1530.

Reviewer's Guide

This PR updates the SDK’s public read contracts to represent session-replaced rows safely—with a runtime narrowing guard and precise path-aware type transformations—while adding conservative same-command recovery for common read-option mistakes; documentation, packed-package validation, regressions, tracker records, and changelog output are updated accordingly.

Codecov Report

✅ All modified and coverable lines are covered by tests.
✅ All tests successful. No failed tests found.

📢 Thoughts on this report? Let us know!

Canonicalize both the invoked script and module entrypoint before deciding
whether to execute the dependency advisory gate. Directory aliases and
symlink-preserving Node startup must still produce complete receipts and
nonzero status for invalid arguments; imports remain inert. Extend the
existing subprocess acceptance case across both paths and loading modes.

Cover read-option refusal when command discovery has no resolved command,
retaining the requested intent without inventing a retry. Record the first
head exact-coverage and native Windows failures rather than weakening gates.

Preserve PM lineage with typed grammar and discovery links, retain only the
two actively verified items in progress, and persist pm-changelog 2026.10.21
as the generator used for the reviewed changelog. Link release guidance and
regressions to the advisory defect tracked by pm-tl7vlu and GH-1530.

Validation: 22 advisory cases and 26 SDK/CLI recovery cases pass through
sandboxed linked tests. The prior full suite passed 10,943 tests and exposed
one missing branch now covered. Canonical graph composition passes at the
unchanged ceiling; hosted exact coverage and native validation remain gates.

…urrence

Exercise the successful SDK-to-CLI correction adapter directly, showing that
same-command semantic argv wins over a producer fallback while preserving a
whitespace tracker operand and unrelated flags. The end-to-end child-process
checks remain in place; the source regression covers the previously missed
successful adapter arm without changing exact coverage requirements.

Register the actual advisory executable recurrence component with its
historical collector, physical-path subprocess negative control, native macOS
checks and complete-population lineage validation. Future changes now select
these checks through the existing SDK/CLI assurance primitives.

Record native macOS acceptance, linked regression receipts, structured item
closures and released claims through the PM CLI. Preserve qualified local
import-cost failures under the existing performance owner. Regenerate the
changelog using pm-changelog 2026.10.21 and retain historical failed attempts.

Validation: 27 linked read-recovery cases, 30 advisory/policy cases, both native
macOS Node24 shards, complete recurrence coverage and live observability
acceptance. Final full hosted static, exact coverage and analyzer gates remain
required before merge; no thresholds, timeouts or security policy are relaxed.

…intent

Make direct output-dimension results depend on the caller's actual session
options. Ordinary and budget-only options retain full row types; optional,
union, dynamic and snake-case session options admit references. Keep budget
omissions and existing explicit Result type arguments, and regenerate the
public SDK snapshot with conservative signature acknowledgements.

Treat --json as a conflicting TOON presentation control. Decline a guessed
retry rather than overriding the caller's explicit encoding. Validate valid
TOON suggestions through the human recovery bundle, and independently prove
that structured JSON refusals do not carry an encoding-changing retry.

Add source and real packed declaration consumer proofs plus SDK, formatter
and real CLI conflict regressions. Preserve whitespace operands, explicit
tracker selection and authoritative item/history bytes. Update migration
guidance and record review remediation, negative controls and structured
closure evidence through the PM CLI.

Validation: full source typecheck, packed SDK declarations and 19 runtime
scenarios on Node and Bun pass. All 30 recovery cases, focused lint and SDK
snapshot checks pass. New consumer and JSON conflict controls fail on the
previous implementation. Exact hosted coverage and analyzer gates are
required again on this revised head before merge.
