Summary

  • Add optional PI_DESKTOP_UPDATE_CACHE_DIR for Windows NSIS in-app update downloads.
  • Adopt NSIS differential baselines and pending installer from the legacy cache without overwriting active files or deleting unknown files.
  • Remove obsolete pending downloads after the installed version is confirmed current; retain delta baselines.
  • Document the behavior in English and Chinese, with unit/source-contract coverage.

Validation

  • Desktop tests: 2953 passed
  • Desktop typecheck: passed
  • pnpm lint: passed
  • pnpm docs:check: passed
  • Windows packaged-installer E2E: not run on macOS; documented as a required Windows validation.

Closes #1098

Keep NSIS update downloads off the system drive when a writable cache override is configured. Preserve pending updates and differential baselines during migration, and reclaim only obsolete staging after the installed version is current.
