Profiles: prompts and fact counters as files, named by key - #260
A profile is one directory with everything the recognition depends on besides the model: a file per prompt (<key>.md) and per group of exact fact counters (<key>.tsv, label<TAB>regex per line, # comments). With profileDirectory set, a rule's promptKey and factsKey that no definition has are read from there, so a configuration names keys only and repeats no prompt text and no regex. A profile can be copied, versioned and handed on as a whole.
A profile is one directory with a file per prompt (<key>.md) and per group
of exact fact counters (<key>.tsv, label TAB regex per line). With
profileDirectory set, a rule's promptKey and factsKey that no definition
has are read from there, so a configuration names keys only and repeats no
prompt text and no regex. prompts/ becomes profiles/, promptDirectory
becomes profileDirectory (unreleased), and factDefinitions gain factsFile.
- AiFactDefinitionLoader parses and compiles the counters when the run
starts (file and line in every error); AiPromptTemplateLoader looks up
the used prompt keys; AiProfileFileSupport is the shared convention.
- profiles/v2 holds the five prompts plus java-facts.tsv and
sql-facts.tsv; the plugin's self-test profile, the example
configurations, the plugin-it fixture and run.py (--profile) name keys
only.
- The SQL counters count what their labels say: INSERT statements, VALUES
rows (approx), MATERIALIZED/OR ALTER views, TEMP/UNLOGGED tables, T-SQL
indexes and procedures, triggers, types, ALTER TABLE.
- SqlFactPatternsTest and JavaStructureFactPatternsTest read the shipped
.tsv files instead of copies; plugin-it checks the java-facts line in a
real Maven run.
Tests 937/57/32, SpotBugs 0, PIT core 1107/1107, plugin-it 6/6.

The change adds profile-directory support for prompt and fact-counter files. It updates engine and Maven configuration, migrates examples and tests, and changes benchmark tooling to select profiles and optional corpora.
Changes: Profile-based prompts and facts

Summary
Prompt profile loading and engine integration srcmorph/src/main/java/net/ladenthin/srcmorph/{config,prompt,support,engine}/*, srcmorph/src/test/java/net/ladenthin/srcmorph/{prompt,engine,support,config}/*
The configuration uses profileDirectory in place of promptDirectory. Prompt loading resolves relative template files against the profile directory and loads missing prompt keys from .md files.
Fact-file parsing and generation srcmorph/src/main/java/net/ladenthin/srcmorph/{config,engine,support}/*, srcmorph/src/test/java/net/ladenthin/srcmorph/config/*, srcmorph/src/test/java/net/ladenthin/srcmorph/engine/GenerateEngineTest.java, .github/plugin-it.sh
AiFactDefinition supports factsFile. The loader parses TSV counter definitions and loads files for used factsKey values. Generation resolves the loaded definitions onto rules. Tests cover parsing, file errors, Java facts, and SQL counter patterns.
Configuration and example migration srcmorph-maven-plugin/*, srcmorph-cli/README.md, srcmorph-cli/src/test/java/net/ladenthin/srcmorph/cli/*, examples/*, README.md, CLAUDE.md, CHANGELOG.md
Maven and example configurations use profileDirectory and keyed prompt or fact files. Tests check profile-directory mapping and example configuration parity.
Profile documentation and benchmark tooling profiles/README.md, prompts/README.md, docs/ai-index-benchmark/*, CHANGELOG.md
The benchmark runner accepts profile and corpus options, and the scorer accepts a facts-file path. Profile documentation and benchmark references use the profiles/ location.
bernardladenthin/srcmorph#257: Adds ListModelsEngine; this change updates that engine to pass profile-directory and field-generation settings to prompt loading.

Merge Risk: Low · up to b89d0
The Maven parameter help does not fully describe profile files, but the README provides the missing guidance. The change is mergeable with that documentation correction as a follow-up.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to b89d0
The change extends existing local-file configuration behavior. No introduced exploitable security boundary crossing was established, but the profile directory is not a sandbox: safe use depends on trusting configuration and profile contents.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The filesystem scope is bounded by the executing process's permissions, not by profileDirectory. Conventional lookups append .md or .tsv but do not reject traversal segments; explicit file settings also retain unrestricted configured-path behavior. Loaded content can affect generation configuration and resulting index bodies. No independent tenant, service, or environment exposure was established.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The inspected CLI loads JSON or YAML from a path supplied by its caller, and Maven maps configured parameters into the library configuration. The base already permitted configured template-file reads outside the prompt directory. This is counterevidence to treating unrestricted reads as a newly introduced privilege boundary violation, but it does not establish that every library deployment trusts rule keys or factsFile values.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — New profile read and parse failures occur before fact rules are mutated or generation begins. File-backed definitions are materialized into new objects, and repeated resolution replaces keyed rule facts rather than appending them. Existing in-place rule mutation still precedes later validation, so the change does not introduce transactional rollback or concurrent-configuration guarantees. Provider cleanup remains scoped by try-with-resources.
Hardening Proposals
proposed — Document configuration and profile contents as trusted inputs. If an embedding application accepts lower-trust keys, provide a separately enforced contained-lookup mode with path and symlink handling, while preserving explicit external-file access only for trusted configuration.

Update the Javadoc of profileDirectory to describe key lookup.
The renamed profileDirectory field still has the old promptDirectory Javadoc. It says only that a relative templateFile of promptDefinitions resolves against the directory. It omits the new behavior:
A promptKey or factsKey with no definition is read from <key>.md or <key>.tsv.
A relative factsFile resolves against the directory.
Maven plugin tooling uses this Javadoc as the parameter description. The text is therefore incomplete and out of line with SrcMorphConfiguration#getProfileDirectory and the plugin README.

Replace the invisible byte order mark in the string literal with the \uFEFF escape.
Line 202 appears to hold a literal U+FEFF character inside the string. An editor, formatter, or copy-paste can silently strip it. The test would then still pass, because the label parses as a, but it would no longer test BOM removal. The tests in AiPromptTemplateLoaderTest use the \uFEFF escape for the same purpose in this PR.
