Summary

Kimi Code's coding endpoint now serves Kimi K3.1 Pro, but opencodex neither offered it nor priced it, so every request to it showed an unknown cost. The moonshot API preset had the same pricing gap for kimi-k3.1-pro.

  • Seeds: k3.1-pro and k3.1-pro-highspeed are added to the kimi, kimi-code and kimi-responses presets. Both are listed by a live GET https://api.kimi.com/coding/v1/models (2026-10-24) with context_length: 1048576. They get a 1M window and the same low/high/max effort ladder as K3, defaulting to max. Per Kimi's model docs both run thinking only, and the presets never offer none.
  • Prices (USD per 1M tokens, verified-derived, from the official table at https://platform.kimi.ai/docs/pricing/chat, read 2026-10-24):
Model Input Output Cache hit Cache write (5m) Rows
K3.1 Pro 2.00 10.00 0.20 2.00 kimi/kimi-code/kimi-responses k3.1-pro; moonshot kimi-k3.1-pro
K3.1 Pro Highspeed 4.00 20.00 0.20 4.00 …/k3.1-pro-highspeed; moonshot kimi-k3.1-pro-highspeed

Like the existing K3 rows, these are API list prices shown as estimates. They don't reproduce Code Plan billing or quota, and the 1h cache-write tier ($4 / $8) isn't modelled.

  • Re-verified, unchanged: K3 ($3/$15/$0.30/$3), K2.7 Code ($0.95/$4/$0.19), K2.7 Code Highspeed ($1.90/$8/$0.38) and K2.6 ($0.95/$4/$0.16) match the current table. Their verifiedAt moves to 2026-10-24 and the K2 source now points at /docs/pricing/chat.
  • kimi-k2.5 is no longer on the table; https://platform.kimi.ai/docs/models lists it as discontinued on 2026-08-31. Its rows keep the 2026-07-20 snapshot so historical usage stays priced, and the source string now says so.
  • Not added: kimi-k2-thinking, kimi-k2-thinking-turbo, kimi-k2-turbo-preview, kimi-k2-0905/0711-preview and moonshot-v1-* have only third-party prices. The official models page lists all of them as Deprecated, and the pricing table no longer carries them. kimi-for-coding (K2.8 Preview) still has no published price and stays unknown, as before.
  • The moonshot API preset gets price rows only. Seeding it needs live verification and its own effort wiring, so that's tracked in [Provider]: seed kimi-k3.1-pro for the moonshot API preset and plan K2 retirement #7653, together with the K2 retirement (closed to new users 2026-10-31, retired by end of December 2026).
  • The English provider guide now names the two new ids and their pricing basis. Translations don't mention K3.1 and don't contradict it.

Verification

  • bun test tests/usage/usage-cost.test.ts tests/providers/provider-registry-parity.test.ts tests/usage/cost-cap-unknown-evidence.test.ts: pass. New cases cover K3.1 prices on all three coding presets plus moonshot, that no context tier is applied, the total for a 1M uncached / 1M read / 1M written / 1M output request, the overlay membership list, and the dated K2.5 snapshot.
  • bun test tests/codex-integration/model-metadata-sync.test.ts: pass.
  • bun test tests/ci-workflows/docs*.test.ts (includes docs-provider-billing-claims): 302 pass, 0 fail.
  • OCX_TEST_RUNNER_BUN=<bun 1.4.3> bun run test:changed: 2001 files, 43390 pass, 110 skip, 1 fail. The failure is tests/responses/passthrough-deferred-tools.test.ts "responses stream: Write declared via additional_tools". The stub upstream recorded no request, the case is unrelated to this change, and the file passes 38/38 alone both on this branch and on dev. Filed as [Bug]: flaky passthrough-deferred-tools additional_tools stream case under full-suite load #7655.
  • bun x tsc --noEmit: exit 0. bun run structure:check and bun run privacy:scan: pass.
  • NOT RUN: the full bun run test. test:changed already covered 2001 files because the model seeds are imported almost everywhere. Also not run: a live chat request to k3.1-pro (only the read-only model list was queried).

Checklist

  • Scope stays focused and avoids unrelated cleanup.
  • Docs or release notes were updated when needed.
  • Security-sensitive changes were reviewed for secrets, auth, and unsafe defaults.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added support for Kimi K3.1 Pro and K3.1 Pro Highspeed models, including 1M-token context windows and low, high, and max reasoning options (max is the default).
    • Added estimated pricing for K3.1 Pro models across supported Kimi and Moonshot services.
  • Documentation
    • Clarified that published API pricing estimates do not reflect Code Plan billing or quota. K3.1 Pro Highspeed uses about twice the quota of K3.1 Pro.

Kimi Code's coding endpoint now lists k3.1-pro and k3.1-pro-highspeed
(live GET /coding/v1/models, context_length 1048576). Seed both on the
kimi, kimi-code and kimi-responses presets with a 1M window and the K3
low/high/max ladder (thinking-only, default max), and add expected-price
rows from the official table (platform.kimi.ai/docs/pricing/chat,
2026-10-24): K3.1 Pro $2/$10, cache hit $0.20, 5m cache write $2;
Highspeed $4/$20/$0.20/$4. The moonshot API preset gets price rows for
kimi-k3.1-pro and kimi-k3.1-pro-highspeed.

Re-verified K3, K2.7 Code (+highspeed) and K2.6 against the current table
(unchanged) and moved their verifiedAt to 2026-10-24. kimi-k2.5 left the
table (discontinued 2026-08-31), so its rows keep the 2026-07-20 snapshot
with a source that says so.

Explanation

The title "feat(usage): price and seed Kimi K3.1 Pro on Kimi Code and Moonshot" names the main change. The PR adds K3.1 Pro and K3.1 Pro Highspeed pricing rows in src/usage/expected-prices.ts and model seeds in src/providers/registry/model-seeds.ts, covering the Kimi Code presets (kimi, kimi-code, kimi-responses) and the moonshot API preset. The title is specific and matches the changeset. It is 67 characters, within the expected length. The PR objectives note that seeding the moonshot preset is out of scope, so the title slightly overstates the moonshot part. Pricing rows for moonshot are added, but the seeding is not. This is a minor gap, not a mismatch.

Minor · Use Kimi’s 2x one-hour cache-write rate. · expected-prices.ts:100-103

src/usage/expected-prices.ts:100-103
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Use Kimi’s 2x one-hour cache-write rate.

kimi-responses routes through the shared Responses adapter, which accepts cache_write_1h_tokens and emits cacheCreation1hInputTokens. The shared calculator then applies the generic 2 / 1.25 multiplier, producing $3.20/M for Pro and $6.40/M for Highspeed instead of the documented $4/M and $8/M rates.

Keep cacheWrite at the five-minute rates. Add a Kimi-specific one-hour rate at the pricing boundary, while retaining the existing fallback for providers that use the generic ratio.

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Use a K3.1-specific effort map that omits none.

The request contract accepts none, even though the K3.1 capability ladder advertises only low, high, and max. Both K3.1 IDs currently inherit a map that converts none to the wire value "none". The OpenAI Chat adapter sends that value as reasoning_effort: "none".

Kimi documents both K3.1 models as thinking-only and rejects disabled-thinking requests with HTTP 400. Keep the existing shared map unchanged and assign a K3.1-specific map without the disabling alias.

The moonshot preset (api.moonshot.ai / api.moonshot.cn) now lists
kimi-k3.1-pro and kimi-k3.1-pro-highspeed next to kimi-k3 and the K2 ids,
per the official platform model list. Both get the 1,048,576-token window,
text + image input, and the documented always-thinking low/high/max ladder
(default max, medium -> high, xhigh -> max). An explicit "none" omits
reasoning_effort instead of sending an undocumented value. Sampling
parameters stay stripped and reasoning content is preserved.

Saved moonshot rows still carrying the previous built-in roster gain both
ids at startup through the existing stale-model-roster migration, limited
to the International and China endpoints; edited lists and Custom URLs are
left alone.

kimi-k3 keeps its max-only list, the K2 ids stay seeded, and the default
stays kimi-k2.7-code (open owner decision). Prices already landed in #7657.
