fix(providers): default Moonshot API to K3.1 Pro and retire K2.5 - #7880
The moonshot preset (Kimi platform API, api.moonshot.ai/v1) still defaulted to kimi-k2.7-code, although Moonshot closes the K2 series to new users on 2026-10-31, and it still seeded kimi-k2.5, which was discontinued on 2026-08-31. This is the K2 half of #7653; the K3.1 seeds already landed in #7695.
New moonshot installs default to kimi-k3.1-pro, the model the vendor's model list and Codex guide recommend for API users.
kimi-k2.5 is removed from the Moonshot API seed list only. A saved moonshot/kimi-k2.5 selection migrates to kimi-k3.1-pro; exact legacy seed values (262,144 window, no effort ladder) are refreshed to the K3.1 values, while custom destinations and user-edited metadata are left alone.
The pre-K3.1 stale-roster repair still recognizes a roster after that rename (afterModelRenames), so the two migrations compose.
kimi-k2.6 and kimi-k2.7-code(-highspeed) stay seeded: they are still served to existing users until the December retirement.
Kimi coding-plan providers, Tencent/CodeBuddy catalogs, pricing rows and file-size caps are unchanged.
Owner decision needed: the default model. The evidence (accessed 2026-10-28) is models.md, the K3.1 Pro quickstart and the Codex guide. kimi-k3 is the alternative if a cheaper default is preferred. Follow-up before end of December: remove the remaining API K2 seeds and add their saved-config migrations once the final retirement date is confirmed.

bun run typecheck: no errors (2,227 files). bun run structure:check, bun run privacy:scan, git diff --check: pass. bun run --cwd docs-site build: pass (593 pages).
bun run test:changed did not complete locally: the registry change fans out to most of the suite and the run hit the 900 s limit on a host shared with several concurrent worktrees (partial log, no summary). I am leaving that coverage to the PR's test changed job rather than reporting it as passing.
NOT RUN: full bun run test, authenticated Moonshot inference (the K2.5 discontinuation is documented; current API rejection was not verified).
Review
Three independent review rounds. Round 1 found that the K2.5 migration refreshed a K3.1 Pro value the user had saved even when it equalled the legacy seed (4ace4dd01: targetSeedRefresh.onlyTransferred, only for this Moonshot rename; the Kimi Coding renames keep their deliberate refresh of stale registry values). Round 2 found the same for an explicit noReasoningModels entry (1da34f6b2). Both have regressions that failed first.
Known limitation, not changed here: round 3 noted that a successor key saved with different letter case (KIMI-K3.1-PRO) is not recognised by the rename helper, so transferred K2.5 metadata lands beside it under the lowercase id. That comparison is case-sensitive for every entry in MODEL_RENAMES on dev; changing it is a helper-wide follow-up rather than part of this PR.
Exact-head PR CI at 1da34f6b2, including test changed: success.

Summary by CodeRabbit
Updates
Moonshot now uses kimi-k3.1-pro as its default model instead of kimi-k2.7-code.
Saved kimi-k2.5 selections on official Moonshot API endpoints migrate to kimi-k3.1-pro. Custom destinations and explicit settings are preserved.
kimi-k2.6 and kimi-k2.7-code options remain available.
Documentation
Updated provider guides to reflect the new default, migration behavior, and Kimi model availability.
Follow the vendor's current successor recommendation, retain the still-served
K2.6/K2.7 API seeds, and preserve coding-plan and reseller catalogs.
Refresh only exact legacy capability seeds and keep the pre-K3.1 roster repair
working after the retired-id migration. Cover saved-config persistence,
custom destination/metadata preservation, registry parity and catalog output.
Refs #7653
The Moonshot preset now defaults to kimi-k3.1-pro, and kimi-k2.5 is removed from its legacy API seeds. A migration updates eligible saved selections on official endpoints, while preserving explicit successor metadata and leaving custom destinations unchanged.

For official endpoints, the migration replaces saved K2.5 selections with K3.1 Pro and refreshes transferred context and reasoning metadata. It preserves existing successor values and leaves custom destinations unchanged. Roster matching accepts the original or post-rename form. Tests cover projection, idempotence, and persistence; documentation describes these changes.

… K2.5
The K2.5 rename refreshed any successor value equal to the legacy seed, including values a user had saved under kimi-k3.1-pro before the migration. The registry never seeded K3.1 Pro with those values, so the Moonshot rename now refreshes only metadata carried over from K2.5 (targetSeedRefresh.onlyTransferred). The Kimi coding renames keep their existing behavior.
… in the Moonshot migration
The no-reasoning cleanup still dropped kimi-k3.1-pro when its saved efforts matched the legacy seed, even with no K2.5 left in the config. With onlyTransferred it now removes only the retired id.
