tray icon status differs from actual desktop client status #651

Open

Description

@jnweiger

Seen with OpenCloud Beta OpenCloud Beta 3.0.0.1828 (downloaded from CI)

  • connect to server, wait until two spaces "Personal" and "Shared" are synced.
  • click "Pause syncing" on both. Quit the client. Restart.
  • The client shows "Connected" and a Pause icon on both Spaces. OK
  • The tray icon shows a disconnected icon. BAD
Image

Expected behaviour: Tray icon also shows a paused icon.

  • When clicking resume sync on the "Personal" space and leaving Shared in paused state, the tray icon changes to paused. OK.

Other situation, where the display at the tray icon is out of sync:
All Spaces are happily syncing, but the tray icon says paused for one additional the Personal space:

    Image

Note how the baloon text on the tray icon lists 4 spaces., but we are only syncing 3. The additional Personal space is from a different account, which was synced earlier, but then removed from syncing.

Sidenote: the baloon text should not say Ordner. It should say space.

Reproduced with OpenCloud Beta OpenCloud Beta 3.0.0.1857

    Image

Tray icon shows (paused) - but all two actively syncing spaces are synced.
It stays like this for 5 minutes.

    Workaround:

    • click force sync now on the Personal folder: The paused icon is removed from the tray icon. OKish.

Reproducer for OpenCloud Beta OpenCloud Beta 3.0.0.1875:

    • connect user Mary to server.
    • per default two spaces appear. Personal and Shares.
    • wait for initial sync. The tray icon looks normal. OK
    Image
    • use the three dots menu on the Space 'Shares' -> Remove Space.
    • The tray icon now shows a paused overlay. BAD
    Image

-> The mouse over text has an interesting hint: The removed space 'Shares' is considered to be in paused state.
    The user cannot unpause this.

    Expected behaviour:

    • Spaces removed from syncing by the desktop user do not contribute to the tray icon status.

I have a similar issue, both on 2.0 and Beta.

Files sync correctly, but both icons always show state as paused. I tried both clearing ~/.config/OpenCloud/ and the Beta appimage from scratch. Maybe the issue is on the server side?

But both your folders are marked as "Paused" so the "Paused" icon would be correct?

  9. Maathias commented on Nov 13, 2025

    @Maathias

In my case, the tray and UI icons are always showing "paused" no matter if the state is success/queued/paused

that's a different problem. Could you please open another issue and describe what options are offered to you in the context menu of the two spaces, and what's the context menu of the tray icon?

-> #703 (It is worse than I thought. A simple 'Force sync now' does not fix it.)
