Submitting a mobile task now opens its thread after the local outbox save, while server and worktree setup continue. The sent prompt stays visible, and one shimmering status pill transitions from setup to the working timer without disappearing or changing the feed inset.

Queue persistence failures leave the original draft editor open. Rejected creations offer Edit task with the original prompt plus any text and attachments entered during setup. The handoff tolerates the prompt, shell, and turn arriving separately; follow-up sends stay blocked until creation is ready.

Verification: 110 focused outbox, creation, recovery, and timer tests pass. Mobile and shared-package typechecks pass. iPhone 17 Pro on iOS 26.5 verified against a disposable environment and Git project, using the same prompt and a five-second checkout hook on both revisions. Base bb5748bfac0 remains on the draft sheet during checkout; head 43685693326 opens the thread and retains its pill through startup. React Doctor reports no errors and five existing complexity warnings. All executed CI build/test jobs passed; Macroscope correctness passed, with its separate approvability check neutral. Confirmed review findings were fixed and resolved.

The mobile state changes cover iOS and Android. Web/desktop use their existing submission flow; no wire contracts or provider adapters change. The shared timing fallback now also stops for a turn that fails before provider startup.

Before: base during checkout After: head during checkout
Before: task waits on draft sheet After: prompt and setup pill in thread

Approvability

Verdict: Not approved

Macroscope's review found this PR not approvable — This PR changes the default mobile task-submission lifecycle and adds substantial outbox, pending-thread, navigation, and failure-recovery state across production code. The unresolved recovery and prompt-lifetime concerns further warrant human review of the asynchronous behavior.

Submitting a new task kept the user on the new-task sheet until the server
created the thread, which for worktree mode meant staring at a locked
composer for the whole checkout. Web transforms the draft into the thread
immediately and reports setup progress there.

Mobile now routes every submission through the outbox and replaces to the
Thread route right away. Until the server's shell arrives the screen renders
a stand-in built from the queued creation: the prompt as the first message,
a "Setting up worktree…" pill, and a composer that blocks sending. The
outbox drain records the creation outcome; a rejected creation shows a
"Could not start task" card whose Edit task action reopens the restored
project draft. The thread detail subscription is held back until delivery so
the not-found retry loop never runs during setup.

Task submission now uses the thread outbox for immediate and queued tasks. Mobile state tracks pending creation outcomes, builds temporary thread shells, blocks follow-up messages, and renders preparation or failure recovery states.

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to e1db6

Task submission now navigates immediately while creation is queued, but delayed persistence failure can still strand users without a direct draft-recovery path. In addition, the working indicator can reflect a superseded turn while a newer one is active. These recovery and status correctness issues should be addressed before merge.

…aking attachment ids

Review follow-ups on the immediate-thread-navigation change:

- Edit task navigated without a draftId, so the sheet minted a fresh empty
draft and the restored prompt in new-task:restored-<messageId> was
unreachable. Both bots caught this; drafts became id-keyed on main while
this branch was open. The key now comes from one shared helper.
- The stand-in message passed local draft attachment ids as server ids, so
the feed's attachment rows sat on a spinner that never resolved when the
creation was rejected. It omits attachments instead; the delivered message
  renders them moments later.
- The outcome-pruning effect read its atom non-reactively, leaking a
delivered outcome whenever the shell landed before the outcome was
  recorded. It subscribes now.

The thread opened to "No conversation yet" for the whole worktree checkout,
which is exactly what the immediate-navigation change was meant to prevent.

The server creates the thread, then builds the worktree, and only starts the
turn afterwards, so the thread shell and an empty detail arrive seconds ahead
of the prompt. The stand-in was gated on the shell being absent, so it was
dropped the moment that shell landed: no prompt bubble, no "Setting up
worktree…" pill, and the empty-state placeholder instead. It is now gated on
the delivered prompt itself, matched by message id — the queued id IS the
delivered id, so the swap is exact — and the feed appends it to the loaded
messages rather than replacing them, since the detail exists but is empty
during that window.

Submitting also held the sheet open for the outbox's disk write, leaving an
emptied composer on screen while the sheet dismissed. Enqueue publishes to the
queue atom synchronously, so navigation no longer waits on persistence; a
failed write restores the draft and says so, like the thread composer's send.

…the agent starting

The floating pill blinked out for about half a second after "Setting up
worktree…" cleared and before "Working for 0s" faded in.

Mobile derives the working timer from the shared helper, which only counts a
turn once the provider stamps startedAt. A turn that is requested and whose
session is already running — the window while the provider spins up — produced
null, so nothing was shown. Web never had the gap because its own copy of the
helper carries a running-session branch that falls back to the last user
message.

Bring the shared helper to parity with web's and pass the last user message
from mobile. The fallback stays inside the running-session branch on purpose:
using it once the turn settles would leave the pill counting forever.

The previous attempt at this gap was wrong. It added a running-session branch,
but the projector stamps latestTurn.startedAt in the same update that moves the
session to "running" — so whenever the session is running, startedAt is already
set and that branch could never fire.

The real window is session "starting": the provider is spinning up, the turn
exists with requestedAt, and startedAt is still null. deriveActiveWorkStartedAt
returned null for it, so the pill went out between "Setting up worktree…" and
"Working for 0s".

An unsettled turn now falls back to requestedAt. A settled turn still falls
through to the caller's send timestamp, so this cannot leave the indicator
counting after the work is done, and a session restarting with no new turn does
not resurrect the old one — both covered by tests.

Reverts the speculative running-branch and latestUserMessageAt parameter added
in 30e4f1b.

**Full Changelog**: pingdotgg/t3code@v0.0.39...v0.0.40

Upstream release: https://github.com/pingdotgg/t3code/releases/tag/v0.0.40
pandec added a commit to pandec/t3code that referenced this pull request Sep 8, 2026
Sync to upstream-sync/main 6ba15c0 (131 commits). Superseding overlaps decided with the user:

- D1: the fork's movedToTopAt "Move to top" ordering is removed in favor of upstream's
persistent activeOrderKey (pingdotgg#9729). Web "Move to top" now plans a reorder through
upstream's key planner and writes thread.active.reorder.
- D2: mobile new-task creation is upstream's queued flow with immediate navigation
(pingdotgg#10435); use-project-actions.ts is deleted and the fork's voice inputOrigin and
generic attachments are re-hosted in the pending-message builders.
- D3: mobile drafts are upstream's ID-keyed multi-draft model (pingdotgg#10327) with no legacy
migration; legacy project-keyed records are dropped on hydration.

Migrations 048/049 land as 058/059. The RNGH patch is regenerated from the pristine
package with both sides' hunks. Post-merge audit fixes: Codex usage-limit errors carry
the session generation stamp, split-view window refocus is pane-gated, mobile rows fall
back to the driver icon, and the orphaned QueuedMessageList is removed.

Model: Claude Fable 5.1 (Claude Code), with Astra/Sol subagents.

* feat(web): group onboarding project import by repository (pingdotgg#10493)

Onboarding listed every directory Claude Code or Codex had ever run in as one flat list of paths, with everything from the last 30 days preselected. On my machine that was 270 rows and 80 preselected. Most of them were Codex scratch folders, worktrees, and one-off questions. I wanted two or three projects and had no fast way to get there.
The scanner now reads each candidate's `.git/config` directly, so the client can group clones by origin and show the GitHub `owner/name`. Linked worktrees, Codex scratch directories under `~/Documents/Codex`, `~/Downloads`, and temp roots are no longer offered. Folders that are not git repositories collapse under "Other folders". The default selection requires a git repository with at least three threads. Select all and Select none sit above the list, and each row shows the source icons, thread count, and last activity.
On the same machine this drops the list to 162 rows and the default selection to 16.
Mobile has no project import step, so there is no mobile change.

* fix(sync): repair merge fallout and migrate to Effect rc.112

Typecheck after the merge found three classes of problem:

- Syntax broken by resolving several conflicts as blind unions, in
ProviderService, OpenCodeAdapter, routeTree.gen, the composer draft
and sidebar logic tests, and the client-runtime thread commands.
- Schema.TaggedErrorClass renamed to Schema.TaggedError in rc.112,
  across ten fork-only files.
- Upstream dead-export cleanup unexported buildEnvironmentAuthHeaders,
withEnvironmentCredentials and providerLimitsLabel, which the fork's
direct Apple push and usage UI still use.

The usage UI takes upstream's UsageLimits and UsageLimitsSection
wholesale rather than a union; the fork's contribution there is the
aiusage source kind on the server, which is unaffected.

prepareMcpSession keeps issuing a credential when browser access is
off, with previewEnabled false, because the same credential carries the
fork's mailbox and issue tools. Upstream's browser-access suite is
updated to assert the capability rather than the absence of a
credential.

* fix(sync): clear typecheck fallout from the upstream merge

Working through the 179 errors the first typecheck reported. Roughly
twenty roots, most of them shortcuts taken while resolving conflicts.

Cascades cleared:

- ProviderService, ws.ts and ProviderCommandReactor each carried a
duplicated or orphaned statement from a union-style resolution, which
degraded the CLI's requirements channel to unknown and produced 62
downstream errors across the CLI test files.
- ThreadNavigationSidebar carried a duplicated render switch after an
unconditional return, so the item union never narrowed. That alone
  accounted for 51 mobile errors.

Genuine upstream changes adapted rather than reverted:

- moveThread supersedes the fork's movePinnedThread and covers pinned
and active sections both, so the sidebar uses it.
- PendingNewTask became a queued/draft union with environmentId,
projectId, projectTitle and branch on the base, so reads no longer go
  through message or creation.
- Reset-credit redemption names the credit being spent, threaded through
the mobile and web usage screens.
- getThreadRuntimeContext gains modelSelection so token pricing still
charges against the thread's current model without a second query.
- runInEnvironment, resetMillis, formatLoopbackAuthorizationPrompt and
constrainPrimarySidebarWidth are exported again for fork callers.

* fix(sync): finish the typecheck pass across every client

Web, mobile and desktop typecheck clean; the server is down to its last
few test-layer wirings.

The fork's change-request status cache came back with it: upstream
removed threadChangeRequestSnapshotsAtom and the displayed-PR resolvers
from ThreadStatusIndicators, which would have taken the sidebar's
Forgejo and GitHub PR badges with them. The store, the three resolvers
and the row's parent-held snapshot are restored.

Adapted to upstream's renames rather than reverting them: canMoveUp and
canMoveDown replace the pin-specific move props, SettingsSection no
longer takes a description, and the terminal drawer drops the cursor,
trimmed and epoch fields the chunked output model supersedes.

launchStartupHeartbeat is exported again so startup does not block on
projection counts.

* test(sync): follow upstream's draft persistence and theme variable set

The composer draft round-trip test drove partialize then merge directly.
Upstream moved that projection into the storage serializer, so the test
runs partializeComposerDraftStoreState the same way storage does. The
fork's per-thread subagent model survives the round trip; only the test's
route through it had gone stale.

The mobile theme now emits 80 variables, upstream's set plus the fork's.

* test(sync): assert the fork's product name in runtime instructions

RuntimeInstructions is shared by every adapter now, so the Claude
adapter's expectation follows the fork's branding.

* test(desktop): expect the fork's name in the Linux desktop entry

* test(server): scope reconcile assertions to session commands

Activation also runs the mailbox recovery scan, so the dispatch log
carries thread.mailbox commands alongside the session transitions these
tests are about. They filter for session commands instead of asserting
the whole log.

* chore(sync): satisfy upstream's new knip checks

knip.jsonc arrived with the sync and had never seen the fork's code.

The voice model manifest script is regenerated by hand rather than by a
build step, so it is declared as an entry instead of reading as dead.

The other 47 findings were exports nothing imported by name, mostly in
the fork's Forgejo, issue, push and provider sign-in modules where a
helper was exported but only used inside its own file. Those lose the
export keyword; four unused re-exports leave the voice-input barrel.

Typecheck is clean and the client-runtime and mobile suites still pass.

* chore(sync): format merged files and drop a dead layout helper

vp check flagged formatting in the eleven files where conflict
resolution left the merged text off-style.

constrainPrimarySidebarWidth goes with it. I restored it earlier only
because the layout test imported it, but the test never called it and
no screen ever did, in the fork or upstream. The import goes too.
