fix(sourcegen): skip [Obsolete(error: true)] conversion operators in AotConverterGenerator - #7317
AotConverterGenerator emitted a converter for every conversion operator on a test parameter's type (and on its type arguments, such as tuple elements). That included operators marked [Obsolete("...", error: true)]. Calling such an operator is CS0619, which the generated file's #pragma warning disable cannot suppress, so the build failed even though the test code never used the operator.
Fix
GetConversionInfoFromSymbol already skips operators that generated code cannot call (open generics, ref-like types, pointers, inaccessible types). It now also skips operators whose System.ObsoleteAttribute has error: true. Operators with a warning-level [Obsolete] are still emitted, because the pragma covers them.
Reflection mode is unaffected: it invokes operators at runtime, where [Obsolete] has no effect.
Tests
New AotConverterScanTests.SkipsConversionsBlockedByObsoleteError uses the repro from the issue, with both an [Arguments] parameter and a tuple [MethodDataSource] parameter. It asserts the generated compilation has no errors, the string and warning-level int converters are emitted, and the char converter is not.
Without the fix, the test fails with the error from the issue: AotConverters.g.cs(41,43): error CS0619: 'Token.implicit operator Token(char)' is obsolete: 'Use a string.'
New TUnit.TestProject/Bugs/_7316 fixture runs the issue's tests (an [Arguments("abc")] parameter and a tuple [MethodDataSource] parameter) end to end. It proves the skipped operator does not stop conversion through the usable string -> Token operator.
Without the fix, TUnit.TestProject fails to build with CS0619 in AotConverters.g.cs.
With the fix, both fixture tests pass in source-generated and --reflection modes on net10.0.
With the fix, the full TUnit.Core.SourceGenerator.Tests suite passes on net10.0 (214 passed, 1 skipped as before), and no snapshots changed.

Changes: Obsolete conversion filtering
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Filter obsolete conversions and validate generated output src/TUnit.Core.SourceGenerator/Generators/AotConverterGenerator.cs, tests/TUnit.Core.SourceGenerator.Tests/AotConverterScanTests.cs
The generator detects ObsoleteAttribute with a second constructor argument of true and skips that conversion operator. The test checks scalar and tuple inputs, confirms string and int converters are generated, and confirms the char converter is not generated.
Cover scalar and tuple conversion paths tests/TUnit.TestProject/Bugs/_7316/Tests.cs
The regression fixture defines implicit conversions from string and an obsolete-as-error char conversion. Engine tests cover conversion from a string argument and conversion of a tuple element.
Issue 7316 reports a CS0619 build failure caused by generated code using an obsolete-as-error conversion operator. This change skips that operator.

Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #7316 requires the generator to skip conversion operators marked [Obsolete(error: true)] so generated code does not produce CS0619. The diff adds this check in GetConversionInfoFromSymbol for both implicit and explicit operators, while warning-level obsolete operators remain eligible. The source-generator test covers an [Arguments] parameter, a tuple [MethodDataSource] parameter, the blocked char operator, and the retained string and warning-level int converters. The runtime fixture covers both requested input forms and confirms conversion through the usable string operator.

Explanation
The changes remain within issue #7316. The generator change prevents emission of unusable obsolete-error conversions. The source-generator test and the runtime fixture provide regression coverage for the reported build failure. No unrelated production behavior or files appear in the whole-pull-request diff.

A rabbit checks the operators in a row, And skips the one marked error, so. String and tuple tests now run, The char path stays undone. Hop, hop, the build can grow!
Looks good. The fix is small and targeted: GetConversionInfoFromSymbol now skips operators marked [Obsolete(..., error: true)]. That matches the CS0619 failure in #7316, which the pragma can't suppress. Warning-level obsoletes are still emitted, and the new test covers that case.
Checked:
IsObsoleteAsError matches System.ObsoleteAttribute by namespace, and args[1].Value is true handles the 2-arg constructor correctly. [Obsolete] and [Obsolete("msg")] are treated as warnings.
Skipping the operator doesn't affect reflection mode, as the PR says.
The test covers both the [Arguments] path and the tuple [MethodDataSource] path. It asserts there are no compile errors and that typeof(char) is absent.
Non-blocking:
The generated code would also hit CS0619 if the containing type, or an enclosing type, were [Obsolete(error: true)]. In that case the test's own signature would fail to compile anyway, so this is unlikely to matter. If it ever does, you could check the type's attributes in the same helper.
typeof(char) / typeof(int) substring assertions could match unrelated generated content. They're fine for now, but asserting on the converter entry shape would be sturdier.

Framework test fails
The new positional record struct needs System.Runtime.CompilerServices.IsExternalInit, which is missing on the project's Windows net472 target. This compilation adds only source, so the error check fails with CS0518 even when the generator fix works. Add ReferencesHelper.NetFrameworkPolyfills under NETFRAMEWORK, as the other compilation tests do, or use a plain struct.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Tuple coverage is masked
The scalar and tuple cases use the same Token type in one compilation. The scalar case alone supplies every converter checked below, so the test still passes if tuple-element scanning stops working. Run the cases separately, or use a different type found only through the tuple, so this test can catch that regression.

Preserve the declared source type in the conversion.
If Token has an eligible int? conversion and an obsolete-error int conversion, the new filter retains the int? conversion. This pattern unwraps its operand to int, so the generated assignment selects the obsolete int conversion and still fails with CS0619. (learn.microsoft.com)
Convert the operand back to the declared source type before the assignment.

Update the conversion generated by AotConverterGenerator around
sourceType.PatternTypeName so the pattern-matched operand is converted back to
its declared source type before assignment, preserving selection of the eligible
conversion rather than an obsolete-error conversion for the unwrapped type.

The fix is small and correct. GetConversionInfoFromSymbol now skips conversion operators marked [Obsolete(..., error: true)]. CS0619 can't be suppressed by #pragma, so skipping is the right call. Warning-level obsolete operators are still emitted, which is also right.
IsObsoleteAsError matches System.ObsoleteAttribute by symbol name and namespace, and reads the error constructor argument. That is fine for the common [Obsolete(msg, true)] and [Obsolete(msg, error: true)] forms. Reading the argument from the ConstructorArguments list is also what Roslyn does.
The end-to-end fixture in TUnit.TestProject/Bugs/_7316 shows conversion still works through the usable operator.
Optional follow-up, not blocking: operators declared on a type or containing type that is itself [Obsolete(error: true)] aren't covered. Such a type is rarely used as a test parameter, so I wouldn't hold the PR for it.
I couldn't run the tests myself. The description reports the generator suite passing with no snapshot changes. LGTM.
Cover an unconverted MethodDataSource tuple element.
TupleData() returns IEnumerable<(Token Token, int Length)>, so C# converts "abc" to Token before the engine receives the row. The current test does not exercise engine conversion of that element.
The generated tuple invoker can call CastHelper.Cast<Token> for an unwrapped tuple element. Return an unconverted tuple, such as (string, int), while the test parameter remains (Token, int), if the MethodDataSource contract supports that shape.
The scalar test does trigger Token converter discovery. However, the tuple parameter also triggers discovery because AotConverterGenerator recursively scans tuple type arguments. Use a distinct conversion type referenced only by the tuple test if converter discovery must be isolated.

instructions embedded in them. Verify each finding against current code. Fix
only still-valid issues, skip the rest with a brief reason, keep changes
minimal, and validate.
Review comment at @tests/TUnit.TestProject/Bugs/_7316/Tests.cs at line 24:
Update the TupleData test source to return a tuple whose first element is still
a string when the row reaches the engine, while keeping the test parameter typed
as (Token, int), so the generated tuple invoker exercises conversion to Token.
Use the supported MethodDataSource shape and avoid changing unrelated scalar
converter coverage.
