feat: bind accept_stream to the opening peer and add per-peer emit_to - #66
Conversation
Introduce a stream abstraction in the tinybus crate to handle connection I/O, wiring it through the connection, message, and router modules so that message dispatch can operate over a unified stream interface. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add tests asserting that emit_to reaches only the addressed subscriber and still requires a matching subscription, and that a signal addressed to a well-known name is refused. Also cover accept_stream_from binding a stream to the peer that opened it and rejecting unknown ids, and collapse two signatures that rustfmt had wrapped. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly

module-ci / coverage fails on module/client.rs at 52.59% line coverage (per-file gate 90%). The same check fails identically on base main eb5cf72 (same 52.59%), and this PR does not touch that file, so it is pre-existing and not caused by this change. |
Clarify that a `signal` may carry a unique-name `destination` and that only a broker implementing addressed signals honours it, while older brokers ignore the field and broadcast by match rules. The `destination` header is now listed as valid for `signal` as well, and `signal_to` carries the same caveat. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly

Add the old-broker warning to emit_to
When this client connects to a broker predating addressed signals, that broker accepts the optional destination but broadcasts the signal to every matching subscriber, so this primary public API's unconditional statement that a third party “never sees it” can cause callers to expose targeted payloads during mixed-version deployments. Fresh evidence after the prior fix is that the caveat was added to Message::signal_to and docs/protocol.md, but this Connection::emit_to rustdoc—the entry point most callers will consult—still retains the false guarantee; add the same-release warning here.

Tiny Sweeper reviewAdds per-peer addressed signals via `Connection::emit_to` / `Message::signal_to` and peer-bound stream acceptance via `Connection::accept_stream_from`, with router filtering, registry support, tests, and docs; all lanes reported 0 active actionable findings, though the tests lane produced no usable response and one test file could not be reviewed. State: Incomplete Review snapshot
Completeness: Incomplete What changed`Message::signal_to` builds a signal carrying a unique-name `destination`, and `Message::validate` refuses a signal addressed to a non-unique name. `Connection::emit_to` sends such a signal. The router's signal fan-out now filters peers so a destination-addressed signal reaches only the peer owning that unique name, still gated by match rules. `StreamRegistry::take_reader_opened_by` returns `Error::UnknownStream` unless the stored stream owner equals the supplied opener, leaving the entry available; `Connection::accept_stream_from` exposes this while `accept_stream` is documented as not checking the opener. Docs update `destination` validity and describe addressed signals. Features
TestsNo supported feature-to-test mapping was produced. Test execution is not inferred.
FindingsNo active actionable findings. Lower-confidence notes

What
Connection::accept_stream_from(&StreamRef, &BusName): takes a stream only if the given peer (the broker-stamped sender of the carrying call) opened it. A mismatch returns the sameUnknownStreamas a missing id and leaves the stream for its owner.accept_streamis unchanged (additive).Connection::emit_to(destination, path, interface, member, body)andMessage::signal_to: aSignalmay now carry a unique-namedestination. The router delivers it only to that peer, still requiring a matching rule; other subscribers on the same path/interface never see it. A non-unique destination is refused byvalidate. A broker that predates this ignores the destination and broadcasts, so use it only against a broker of the same release.docs/protocol.md,docs/modules/stream/README.md).Tests
New: addressed signal reaches only the target while a bystander sees only the later broadcast; addressed signal still needs a subscription; well-known destination refused; stream accept bound to the opener, intruder refused and owner still reads; unknown id refused.
