Fix queued same-day automatic release recovery - #1047
Conversation
Resolve an already-published UTC-day tag before analyzer provenance for scheduled and issue-retry Auto Release events. Select or recover the exact immutable Release workflow, then require direct public GitHub Release and npm evidence before emitting the no-op publication receipt. Exercise tag detection, queued schedule recovery, issue markers, and missing-npm failure through extracted workflow scripts. Document the concurrency contract, upgrade pm-changelog to 2026.8.17, regenerate the changelog, and close pm-dm2vfz with typed recurrence evidence.

How do review limits work?CodeRabbit enforces per-developer PR review limits for each organization. Most developers receive the normal plan review availability. For paid Pro and Pro+ PR reviews, CodeRabbit uses adaptive limits for sustained high-volume activity. When a developer's recent PR review activity reaches the 95th percentile or higher among CodeRabbit users, additional reviews become available more gradually as earlier reviews age out of the rolling window. 📝 WalkthroughSummary by CodeRabbit
WalkthroughThe automatic release workflow now detects same-day releases for all non-manual triggers, verifies exact GitHub Release and npm publication state, and fails closed when publication is incomplete. Contract tests, documentation, PM records, changelog content, and extension metadata were updated. ChangesAutomatic release recovery
Estimated code review effort: 4 (Complex) | ~45 minutes Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to This PR changes queued same-day release recovery to reuse existing tags and verify GitHub and npm publication. At the current head, issue-triggered recovery can consume its retry marker before verification, preventing a later retry after failure, and publication probes can exit before their intended failure diagnostics run. These bounded workflow risks should be fixed or explicitly accepted before merge. Sequence Diagram(s)sequenceDiagram

Reviewer's GuideUpdates auto-release workflow and contract tests so queued same-day scheduled runs detect and reuse an existing immutable daily tag by selecting, waiting for, or recovering the exact Release workflow, and then verifying non-draft GitHub Release plus exact public npm publication before skipping preparation; also adds dedicated detection tests, updates CI workflow expectations, changelog, docs, and pm extension/history metadata. Capture GitHub Release and npm probe failures under strict Bash mode so the workflow emits actionable fail-closed diagnostics. Add negative controls for unavailable provider state and successful mismatched npm versions, and keep public documentation at the release-contract level. Acknowledged the old-head summary. The provider-probe diagnostics and version-mismatch coverage are fixed at d92be04. The one-marker-per-current-day issue retry remains an intentional anti-loop contract; that bounded attempt performs exact-tag recovery and fails closed if publication still cannot be proved. |

Prevents queued same-day Auto Release runs from opening false blockers after a manual release by verifying the current UTC-day tag’s publication before analyzer. Previously, automatic runs checked analyzer first and failed on the generated release commit; now they select or recover the exact Release workflow, require public GitHub Release and exact npm proof, and emit fail-closed diagnostics when verification fails.
