SDK recovery transcripts and retry-safe annotation context contracts - #1133
Conversation
Publish a versioned SDK transcript corpus and replay real multi-step CLI workflows against independent token-accounting transports. Ratchet task and step identities, output envelopes, executable refusal recovery, mutation receipts, and completed-task token cost in the mandatory static gate. Correct rejected-option surface attribution, preserve the Skills special-file security test with a macOS-safe socket path, and carry tests, documentation, changelog, and PM evidence together.
Point the output-accounting guide at the canonical feature and issue records and preserve the pre-PR verification evidence in PM history.

WalkthroughThis change adds versioned transcript contracts and replay validation, retry-safe annotation appends, corrected refusal guidance, median RSS admission, deterministic lifecycle timestamps, and updated PM and documentation records. ChangesTranscript and annotation reliability
Estimated code review effort: 5 (Critical) | ~90+ minutes Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to This PR adds retry-safe annotation and transcript-recovery contracts across the SDK, CLI, and MCP surfaces. At the current head, some automatic retries can still fail, malformed accounting combinations can terminate unexpectedly, and an interrupted annotation write can leave item, history, and cache state inconsistent while later retries treat it as complete. These are concrete correctness and reliability risks, so the PR is not merge-ready until they are fixed or explicitly accepted. Sequence Diagram(s)sequenceDiagram

Reviewer's GuideThis PR adds a public, versioned transcript contract and fail-closed SDK parser, then wires four real multi-step workflows—including refusal recovery and lifecycle mutations—into an independent accounting and token-cost assurance gate. It also fixes option-refusal reporting after valid flags, preserves the Skills non-regular-file security test on macOS, and updates release documentation and PM lineage. Compose transcript success validation with canonical command exit declarations so real no-effect and partial-effect bulk workflows remain successful without broadening other commands. Replace serialized substring completeness with structural own-property paths, add adversarial coverage, and replay both effect-aware exits in the mandatory golden corpus. Record both PR review findings, recurrence gates, exact coverage evidence, and generated changelog entries in PM.

Acknowledged the CodeRabbit review configuration. The explicit full-review trigger has been renewed for the updated head 1cc9872. |
|
Acknowledged the transient CodeRabbit chat rate limit as a provider limitation, not an approval. The cooldown has elapsed and a fresh full review is being requested for head 1cc9872. |
|
The Sourcery guide accurately captured the initial architecture. The updated head expands the corpus from four to five workflows with structural field paths and real exit-6/exit-7 bulk outcomes. |
|
Acknowledged the CodSpeed report: the initial head left all 11 benchmarks unchanged. Hosted performance checks will be re-evaluated for the updated exact head. |
|
Both Greptile findings were valid and are resolved in 1cc9872. The public parser now composes canonical success semantics with command-declared exits, the real corpus executes partial_effect=7 and no_effect=6, and required_fields now traverse dot-separated own-property paths. PM evidence: pm-wanwyc and pm-o7u08u. |
|
Acknowledged Codecov coverage on the initial head. After the review fixes, local coverage again passed all 8,063 tests at exact 100% statements, branches, functions, and lines; hosted coverage is rerunning on 1cc9872. |
|
Acknowledged the Sourcery review-budget limitation as unavailable provider capacity, not approval. Greptile findings were addressed and the mandatory CI matrix plus a renewed CodeRabbit request provide the current review evidence. |
|
Acknowledged the Greptile review object for the initial head. Both associated inline findings are fixed and independently tracked in PM; a fresh Greptile review is being requested for 1cc9872. |

Acknowledged. CodeRabbit could not start another whole-PR pass because this intentionally broad delivery spans 102 files over the 100-file OSS limit. Its earlier full-review findings were fixed, re-reviewed, reacted to, acknowledged, and resolved; the final tracker-only head is fully green. |

Acknowledged. This empty review node accompanies CodeRabbit's confirmation that the lifecycle-evidence correction is addressed; the corresponding thread remains resolved. |

Acknowledged. This empty review node accompanies CodeRabbit's final acknowledgment on the addressed thread; no actionable finding or unresolved thread remains. |

Final edited-summary acknowledgment: Greptile's exact-head review completed at confidence 5/5 with no actionable findings. The reviewed scope includes the transcript/recovery contracts, retry-safe annotations, shared bootstrap scanning, generated surfaces, transport admission, and cross-surface regressions. |
|
Final edited-summary acknowledgment: CodeRabbit's summary now records the 102-file whole-PR limit. Earlier supported full-review rounds produced actionable findings that were fixed and explicitly confirmed in resolved threads; the final tracker-only head passed every hosted gate. |

Acknowledged. This empty review node accompanies CodeRabbit's latest confirmation; the corresponding lifecycle-evidence thread is resolved with no actionable finding. |
|
Acknowledged. CodeRabbit confirms the lifecycle-evidence correction preserves append-only provenance and supported PM mutation semantics; no further code or tracker change is required. |
