Preserve merge identities and isolate tracker receipt reconciliation - #1237
Conversation
Reject independent add/add item documents and distinct creation histories before scalar selection, fast-forwarding, or hash reanchoring can fuse identities. Refuse ambiguous physical item lookup across built-in and custom type folders and formats, preserving exact-id precedence and shared-folder aliases. Report multiple create events during physical storage integrity validation. Anchor receipt discovery and settlement to the requested tracker when Git workspace discovery is unavailable, preventing unrelated invocation-repository receipts from entering recovery. Replace sorted-tag-only convergence coverage with generated complete-document comparisons across fixed branch permutations and both merge directions, plus independent scalar/body oracles, deletion, disjoint edits, and source mutation negative controls. Document identity recovery, entropy assumptions, and the limits of document-timestamp conflict policies. Regenerate SDK and CLI contracts, refusal census, and package-owned changelog. Record linked tests, structured closure evidence, and durable lessons for pm-qx95lz, pm-1tns7o, and pm-q5grv5; refresh release-health observations. Validation: 8723 tests pass; exact 100/100/100/100 source coverage, static quality, typecheck, contracts, token and performance budgets, graph and record integrity, real temporary Git acceptance, npm/npx/Bun/bunx packed smoke, and secret scan.

Reviewer's GuideThe PR moves merge safety from heuristic reconciliation to explicit identity boundaries: the SDK refuses unprovable or ambiguous item identities, storage and reads report duplicate physical representations, receipt reconciliation is isolated to the requested tracker, and generated whole-document properties validate the documented merge policies across branch order and direction. Codecov Report✅ All modified and coverable lines are covered by tests. 📢 Thoughts on this report? Let us know! |
|
The notice identifies an actionable manual trigger. The implementation is ready at 813d1fc with all hosted checks green. Please review the full diff, especially identity refusal before writes, custom-folder lookup ambiguity, and tracker-scoped receipt settlement. @coderabbitai full review |
|
The guide usefully summarizes the three PM-linked boundaries. Two precision notes: driver.ts is referenced behavior, not a changed file, and the driver dispatches the selected artifact rather than necessarily running history then document merge sequentially. The N-branch properties cover declared policies; docs explicitly retain the limits of document timestamps and ordered executable collections. |
|
Accepted as evidence for the 11 reported benchmarks, not a universal runtime guarantee. The same head also passes all ten SDK import-cost and six CLI transport-floor measurements after local coverage load settled. |
|
Confirmed: all 8723 tests passed locally with exact integer 100/100/100/100 coverage and zero uncovered counts. The hosted patch-coverage report agrees. No coverage threshold or source exclusion was relaxed. |
|
Recorded as review unavailability: the weekly diff budget is exhausted, so this is not a completed clean review. We will not upgrade or bypass the free-service limit. The generated guide is acknowledged separately; hosted checks and other available reviewers remain required. |
|
@greptileai Please review the complete current diff at 813d1fc. Local Greptile reported free_reviews_limit_reached; please report whether hosted review is available. All hosted checks are green. |

The completed review identified two valid boundary gaps; both are accepted and being fixed under pm-qx95lz and pm-1tns7o. Repository documentation gates use a different denominator from this touched-function report and enforce 100 percent module/exported/member coverage. No lower threshold is being adopted. |

…ce oracle Reject two-sided creation streams without a common ancestor even when the creation records are byte-identical. Preserve legitimate common ancestry and one-sided history fast-forwards, with SDK and real driver regressions. Construct N-branch expected documents directly from generated inputs and policy instead of reusing the merge fold. A deterministic description-loss source mutation now fails the independent retention oracle. Record refreshed linked tests, real temporary Git acceptance, complete static quality and exact 100/100/100/100 coverage across 8724 tests. A nonempty legacy or malformed ancestor may contain updates but no create event. Test the actual ancestor creation set before accepting matching branch creates, preserving verified common ancestry and one-sided creation. Extend the existing identity test across JSON and TOON and assert the structured conflict code. The update-only ancestor regression failed on the prior implementation and passes with the corrected predicate. Record pm-qx95lz review dispositions, refreshed linked and temporary Git acceptance, packed npm/Bun smoke, complete static quality, and exact 100/100/100/100 coverage across 8725 tests before releasing ownership.

Preserve independent item identities across branch merges, refuse ambiguous physical item reads, and scope receipt reconciliation to the requested tracker. Strengthen convergence testing with independent expectations for complete merged documents.
The public SDK owns the behavior; CLI adapters inherit it. Two-sided creation histories require a creation event in the ancestor, even when the branch creation records are identical and the ancestor contains other events. JSON and TOON add/add documents return
item_identity_conflict; real driver tests preserve the receiving files. Existing scalar policies retain their documented limits: document timestamps do not establish per-field causal convergence.Generated SDK, CLI, refusal-census and changelog artifacts accompany the implementation. All tracker mutations used pm. Managed-extension state was generated by the supported package installation workflow, not edited directly. Latest
pm-changelog2026.9.11 generated and checked the changelog.Validation: 673 files / 8,725 tests passed with exact 100/100/100/100 coverage (64,264 statements, 48,937 branches, 13,349 functions, 61,565 lines). Complete static quality, governed documentation coverage, duplicate-code scans, typecheck, contracts, token budgets, graph composition, record integrity and import/transport performance gates passed. PM-linked tests, disposable Git acceptance, package-first dogfood, packed npm/npx/Bun/bunx, temporary published-to-current compatibility and installed published npm/Bun sessions passed. Credential scanning and dependency audit found zero findings. Tracker validation reports zero history drift across 2,738 items; 170 historical closure gaps match the documented unrecoverable residual in pm-e9zh.
Head
98454174cf00197af7ae3369503da0e65816eda5passed all GitHub checks and exact-head DeepScan/CodeFactor proof with zero new issues and strict branch protection. Four valid CodeRabbit findings were fixed; the generated-state allegation was withdrawn with a recorded reviewer learning. All threads are resolved and the complete-diff rerun awaits the included review quota reset. Greptile and Sourcery reported exhausted free review capacity; these limitations are not approvals. The existing immutable daily release 2026.9.11 is published and its consumers pass. Read-only release preparation returns
release_already_cut_today; these code changes await the next eligible release. The required recent Sentry/telemetry reliability gate passed. Post-merge event delivery and physical queue state will be verified separately.Measured follow-up pm-r1f9f1 records compound lifecycle receipt compaction as open, unclaimed work after all-status duplicate checks. This PR does not change those compound output contracts.
