storage(#7783): cross-process claim for legacy importers, triage and coverage - #7807
Conversation
Introduce a storage module that records which imports have already been claimed, so repeated import runs can skip work that was already handled and avoid duplicating side effects. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The import now takes a claim before touching a domain, so concurrent processes no longer race to import the same legacy data. A process that loses the claim skips the domain and reports a new InProgress outcome, while the winner re-checks the marker and writes it as before. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
…nt runs The tinyflows import now acquires a claim before doing any work and re-checks the marker inside it, so a second process that races the same import returns InProgress instead of duplicating the import. A debug log line was added for the new InProgress outcome. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Wrap the subagent session, composio, and thread legacy import paths in the shared import claim helper so only one process performs the import and the others skip it. The thread importer also re-checks the marker inside the claim to avoid duplicating work. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
…bagent_sessions/store_documents Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Artifact records now live in the document store rather than in per-artifact meta.json files, so the tests assert against the store instead of the filesystem. The legacy migration test creates its content directory by hand to match what an older install would have left behind. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Dropped an unused `OffloadError` import and an unused `TurnDeadline` import, and replaced a `usage.clone()` with a dereference since the value is `Copy`. No behaviour change. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The test helper that builds a LiveToolSurface now initializes the new tool_hooks field to an empty vector so the struct literal keeps compiling. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly

Importing a claim with an empty id previously produced a malformed record. The import path now rejects or normalizes empty claim ids so downstream lookups do not silently miss the imported entry. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The import claim could be acquired after a previous holder had already finished its work, causing the same sessions to be written twice. The claim body now checks for legacy imported data first and returns early, and the composio store clones its captured values so the closure can move them into the async block. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The claim helper now takes an FnOnce closure instead of FnMut, since the body is only ever executed once the claim is held. The closure is wrapped in an Option and taken on first invocation, which removes the need for callers to provide a re-runnable closure. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Adds coverage for the storage import claim flow and the import module, exercising the claim path and module-level behaviour that previously had no tests. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
…der the claim Adds a test asserting that a second legacy import for the same source does not copy its session list again once the first import has claimed the marker, guarding against duplicate imports from a process that passed the marker check before the claim was taken. Keep waiting while a renewed claim remains live
When a legacy sessions/threads import on a shared backend takes longer than ten minutes, the heartbeat keeps the owner valid, but a contender reaches this elapsed check and returns None anyway. threads/store/legacy_import.rs::import_once treats that as Ok(()), causing once_per_backend to cache completion and ConversationStore::open to expose the partially imported store; if the owner later fails, that process never retries. The fresh evidence after the earlier contention fix is the renewable heartbeat, which lets a healthy claim outlive this fixed waiter deadline; wait until release/marker or return an error callers cannot treat as success.

Abort import work after losing claim renewal
For a long import on a shared backend, one transient renewal error (or a CAS conflict proving ownership was lost) takes this break, but body() continues running and writing. Once the last successful timestamp ages past ten minutes, another core can take over and execute the same unbounded sessions/threads import concurrently while the original may still write its marker; release conflicts are only logged. The fresh evidence beyond the earlier no-heartbeat state is this new permanent-stop error branch, so renewal loss must cancel/fence the body or remain retryable rather than silently abandoning the lease.

Make the heartbeat test scheduler-independent
With the 90 ms lease here, the rival checks every 50 ms while the heartbeat runs on a separate OS thread every 30 ms. On a busy CI worker that thread can be delayed past the rival's 100 ms check, so the rival legitimately takes the apparently stale claim and assert_eq!(rival_ran, Some(false)) fails even though production behavior is unchanged; coordinate renewal/checks with channels or a fake clock instead of sub-100-ms scheduling assumptions.

Use a caller-specific wait budget for boot importers.
with_claim can wait up to 10 minutes for a live claim. storage::import::run_all processes importers sequentially, so blocked claims can delay boot by up to 10 minutes per importer. The code does not establish that one owner causes a delay of more than one hour.
Do not shorten with_claim globally. Add a separate wait-budget variant and use it only in import_one and tinyflows::marked. These paths re-check the marker and map a timed-out claim to Outcome::InProgress. Keep the 10-minute claim lease unchanged.

💡 Codex Review
On a busy CI worker, the main test thread can be descheduled after spawning finisher but before recording started; the finisher's 400 ms sleep keeps elapsing meanwhile, so a correct run_with can wait less than 300 ms and fail this assertion. Gate the finisher with a channel or barrier that is released only after the contender is ready (the elapsed-time assertion in import_claim_tests.rs:165 has the same race), in line with the repository's requirement to avoid time-based unit-test flakes.
