feat(storage): uniform storage schema v2, one storage.db per user, layout migration - #8064
Conversation
…sd v1.0.0 Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Session stores now bind each session key to a tenant scope via a new TenantSessionStores router, replacing the flat DriverSessionStores and the removed scope_for_agent helper. This also bumps tinystoragedrivers to v1.0.0 and drops the named-database fencing carve-out in FencedBackend. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
…sessions Drop the named-database pass-throughs, carry Versioned::meta, bind sessions through a per-tenant provider (local/agent:<id>, u:<profile>/agent:<id>) and move the host scope helpers onto Scope::tenant/local/agent/module. Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Add serde_json as a dependency of openhuman-core so the crate can serialize and deserialize JSON values. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Expose a new schema module from the storage crate so schema definitions and their tests can live alongside the rest of the storage code. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Introduce a scope_move module that relocates stored data between scopes, and wire it into the storage layer so callers can move entries without manual copy-and-delete handling. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Widened the agents collection constant to crate visibility and pointed scope_move at it, replacing a reference to a name that no longer existed. This keeps the collection identifier defined in one place so the scope move logic reads the same constant the agents module writes. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Storage now prepares the schema, moves scopes and applies migrations on the raw backend before the lease fence is installed, so boot-time work is never refused by a fence that does not yet exist. Unfinished migrations are logged as a warning and retried on the next boot. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The cron import test now unwraps with a panic that includes the full error chain, so a failure reports the underlying cause instead of a bare unwrap message. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The cron import test now prints the error chain to stderr before panicking, so failures show the underlying cause instead of only the panic message. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The schedule store now uses the dotted collection names the storage layer expects, and the test-only next-run helper writes only the millisecond instant the due-job query reads. The boot migration test was updated to exercise the embedding cache collection instead of the removed run-status one. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Adjust the storage scope tests to expect the new tenant-prefixed scope format, where agent scopes are nested under the local tenant and profile scopes use the u: prefix. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Introduce per-service storage grant modules for tinybox, tinychannels, tinyconnectors, tinyjuice, tinymcp, and tinywallet, along with matching import modules and grant schemas. These provide the scaffolding needed to grant and import storage for each tiny service. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Replace the per-module storage grant declarations with a single schema-driven lookup so grants cannot drift from what each module declares. The new storage_grant_schemas module resolves a grant for a module id, and the tests covering it are added alongside. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add tests for origin delivery in the cron scheduler, verifying that scheduled jobs deliver results back to the originating channel. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
…e fence The fenced backend now implements the full StorageBackend surface, including schema preparation, maintenance, checkpointing, scope enumeration, and generation-scoped handles, so callers no longer bypass the fence when using those methods. FencedDocuments and FencedStreams also forward put_with, info, seal, and delete_sealed_stream, since the trait defaults would otherwise reject writes that declare a schema version or expiry. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
…generated module grants Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Add a background sweep that removes blob objects no longer referenced by any module, so storage does not grow unbounded as modules delete or rewrite their data. The sweep runs through the storage host and is covered by tests for both the host wiring and the sweep logic. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Adds test coverage for the storage host bus, cdylib, and linked implementations, and extends the profile fence tests. These paths were previously exercised only indirectly, so the new tests pin down their behaviour directly. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
…d.rs,crates/openhuman-core/src/ Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Replace custom unwrap_or_else closures that printed the error and panicked with plain unwrap calls in the origin delivery and tinyflows import tests, since the default panic output already surfaces the error. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Regenerate the lockfile to pull in newly added workspace crates including tinybox drivers, tinychannels, tinyconnectors, tinymcp, tinymemes, tinyjuice drivers, tinywallet-x402, and tinyflows-schedule, along with their transitive dependencies. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Wire the vendored tinybus-macros and tinybus-module crates into the app manifest so the workspace resolves them from the same checkout as tinybus. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Consolidate the tinybus and tinybus-module entries onto their 0.1.6 versions, dropping the duplicate 0.1.5 packages, and realign the windows-sys versions pulled in by transitive dependencies. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Adds test coverage for the cron client and scheduler dispatch paths, along with supporting test scaffolding in tinyflows and storage import. The new tests exercise dispatch behaviour and snapshot handling that were previously unverified. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The modules-gated implementation now imports MODULE_ID alongside the existing helpers, and an unused local binding was dropped from the blob sweep test. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The metadata is moved into the returned document instead of being cloned, since the stored value is not used afterwards. This removes an unnecessary allocation in the compare-and-swap paths. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Replace the assert_eq! against true with assert! in the scope move test, which is the idiomatic form and avoids a clippy lint. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add an example that dumps the storage schema so the on-disk layout can be inspected without writing throwaway code. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
… epic tips Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
chore: merge upstream main into the storage schema v2 epic
Update the vendored tinymemes and tinyskills submodules to their latest commits. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
…mcp and tinywallet Update the vendored submodule pointers for the six tiny libraries to their latest commits. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Regenerated Cargo.lock, which pins several transitive crates to older windows-sys and getrandom releases and bumps tinyflows to 0.8.24 with new base64, tinyflows-catalog, tinyflows-copilot, and tinytools dependencies. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Reverts the tinyflows submodule to 0.8.23, dropping the base64, tinyflows-catalog, tinyflows-copilot and tinytools dependencies it had pulled in. The lockfile also consolidates the remaining windows-sys references onto 0.61.2. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
chore(vendor): pin the merged upstream submodule commits

Review comments at @crates/openhuman-core/src/storage/layout/run.rs:
- Around line 401-410: Update the restore flow to reject a live `storage.db`
before `archive::restore` extracts anything, using the same live-conflict
behavior as `migrate`. Before moving the database aside, checkpoint it so
committed WAL transactions are preserved, then move its `-wal` and `-shm`
sidecars alongside it instead of deleting them; locate this logic in the restore
function around `target.storage_db()` and the `storage.v2` rename.
- Around line 395-398: Update restore so it preserves the v2 files tree instead
of deleting archived Move paths with remove_within; set the tree aside using a
timestamped name, consistent with how storage.db is preserved, so both modified
files and entries absent from the manifest remain available.
- Around line 264-271: Update the existing-archive branch using archive::verify
to compare the manifest’s creation timestamp with state.started_ms; return
LayoutError::Verify when they do not match, and reuse the archive only on a
match. In LayoutState::new, include milliseconds in the archive name to reduce
collisions between migrations started within the same second.
Review comments at @crates/openhuman-core/src/storage/scope_move.rs:
- Around line 173-177: Update the `Known.agents` population in `scope_move::run`
to collect raw agent IDs from both the v1 `storage_agents` collection and the v2
`agents::AGENTS` registry body’s `agent_id` field, rather than relying on
registry document IDs. Merge and deduplicate the results so first-boot migration
recognizes agents from either source.
- Line 372: Update the stream resume logic around `base` and `target.len(&name)`
so each source scope resumes from its own recorded copy progress, keyed by
source scope and stream, rather than the shared target stream length. Start at
`base` when no progress exists, and persist the last copied source offset so
merging multiple v1 scopes does not skip entries.
Review comments at @docs/gitbooks/en/developing/architecture/storage.md:
- Line 125: Update the architecture documentation’s boot-migration statement to
clarify that migration is disabled by default but runs at boot when the
`[storage] auto_migrate_layout` option is enabled; retain the distinction that
migration is not otherwise performed at boot.

tinystoragedrivers v1.0.0 Repo update callback Ok(None) documentation
💡 Result:
I can’t find a documented **“Repo update callback” returning `Ok(None)`** for `tinystoragedrivers` **v1.0.0**. The repository README says it provides the `Repo<T>` primitive, but no typed repository API; typed repositories belong in the crates that own their records. ([github.com](https://github.com/tinyhumansai/tinystoragedrivers))
That README describes the project’s current state, not necessarily v1.0.0. So it doesn’t establish what `Ok(None)` means in the v1.0.0 implementation. To verify the behavior, the relevant source is the tagged implementation of `Repo<T>` and its update method; the available documentation leaves that detail unresolved. ([github.com](https://github.com/tinyhumansai/tinystoragedrivers))

`Repo` is present in `tinystoragedrivers-core` v1.0.0 and re-exported at the crate root. Preserve sub-millisecond ordering for session updates.
ops.rs creates each update timestamp with chrono::Utc::now().to_rfc3339(), but StoredSession::from stores it as milliseconds. Two updates within one millisecond can therefore have different status or history but the same updated_ms. write_if_newer then returns Ok(None) when the stored value is equal or newer, and Repo::update leaves the record unchanged. A later mark_finished, mark_failed, or close update can be skipped and remain absent after reload.
Compare a monotonic revision or preserve a lossless ordering value for the conditional write.

Update write_if_newer to distinguish successive session updates that share the
same millisecond timestamp, using a monotonic revision or another lossless
ordering value for the conditional write. Ensure later status and history
changes from Repo::update, including mark_finished, mark_failed, and close, are
persisted and survive reload.

Keep raw agent IDs separate from encoded session keys. agent_key_for returns an unescaped no-profile agent ID, while TenantSessionStores::route always parses its input as a session key. Thus, alice~x routes to profile alice and agent x instead of local agent alice~x; %7E and %25 can also alias other IDs. Require canonical session_key values, or provide an explicit local-scope path for raw IDs. Apply the same rule to workspace::session_scope.

Update TenantSessionStores::route around split_session_key and
workspace::session_scope to keep raw local agent IDs distinct from encoded
session keys; validate that inputs are canonical session_key values or route raw
IDs through an explicit local-scope path, preventing encoded characters from

Derive migrated config IDs from the destination scope.
scope_move maps the reachable SaaS scope profile:alice to u:alice, but copy_documents preserves each document ID. documents_v2 therefore writes document_id("profile:alice"), while the v2 reader requests document_id("u:alice"). The encrypted tenant config is then absent after migration, and a later save can persist file defaults under the new ID.
Make documents_v2 derive the ID from the destination v2 scope used by Registry::migrate, rather than from record.id. The local case already matches because local is not moved and both paths hash local.

Keep files the user created under v2 when you restore.
For each archived Move entry, restore deletes the whole files/<entry> tree with remove_dir_all. The archive only holds that entry as it was at migration time. Anything written there under layout v2 is permanently lost: new skills, attachments, artifacts, and edited prompt files. The v2 database is set aside, but these user files are not.
Top-level entries created under v2 that are not in the manifest stay in files/ and become unreachable once the profile reads workspace/ again.
Set files/ aside like storage.db, for example by renaming it to files.v2-<ms>, instead of deleting the moved entries. Alternatively, delete a file only when its sha256 matches the manifest entry. Report any leftovers in RestoreReport.

Checkpoint (or move) the v2 WAL before setting storage.db aside, and refuse a live core.
restore renames storage.db and then deletes storage.db-wal and storage.db-shm. Committed transactions that are not yet checkpointed live only in the -wal file. Deleting it drops those transactions from storage.v2-<ms>.db. The doc comment says the v2 database "is never deleted", but its newest data can be.
storage.restore is an RPC controller, so a running core can execute it while that same core serves storage.db. migrate refuses this case with live_conflict. restore has no equivalent check. The rename then happens under an open connection, and the WAL is deleted while that connection still uses it.

Update the restore flow to reject a live `storage.db` before `archive::restore`
extracts anything, using the same live-conflict behavior as `migrate`. Before
moving the database aside, checkpoint it so committed WAL transactions are

deleting them; locate this logic in the restore function around

Read the v1 agent registry when building Known.agents.
The scope move needs the recorded agent ids, but at that point they are still in the v1 collection.
prepare_and_migraterunsprepare, thenscope_move::run, thenRegistry::migrate.- The
registry_v2step copiesstorage_agentsintoagents.registryduringRegistry::migrate. preparehas already createdagents.registry, but it is still empty whenknown_idsreads it.
The consequences:
- On the first v2 boot,
known.agentsis empty. - Every
sha256:<hex>agent scope maps toMapping::Unknownand stays in place. - Every
module-sha256:scope whose base is an agent also stays in place. - The scope list in
boot.rsskips v1 scopes, so this data is not migrated and nothing reads it.
On later boots, ids_of returns document ids. Those ids are Key::of([agent])-encoded, not the raw agent id. Ids that the key encoding changes therefore never match their hash. scope_move_tests builds Known by hand, so the tests do not cover this path.
Read both sources: the ids in storage_agents, and the agent_id body field in agents.registry.

Fix the stream resume offset when two v1 scopes merge into one target stream.
offset = base + target.len(&name) is correct when one source resumes into its own target. It is wrong when several v1 scopes map to one v2 scope. The module docs list this merge case: every module:<id>@<base> becomes <tenant>/module:<id>.
Example: the first source copies N entries into mcp_audit. For the second source, target.len returns N, so the copy starts at that source's offset base + N. Its first N entries are skipped. purge then deletes the source, so those entries are lost. The same applies when the v2 target stream already holds entries.
Track progress per source instead of deriving it from the target length. For example, store the last copied source offset in the target's tsd.migrations or tsd.kv, keyed by (src scope, stream). Start at base when no progress is recorded.
